I was with 3/325 Airborne Battalion Combat Team out of Vicenza, Italy. We went in right after the war to Operation Provide Comfort.

We were mostly in the north. We jumped 2 times over there which was interesting. Our BN Commander might sound familiar to you guys, his name was John Abizaid. Do a search and see what you come up with.

US Army, 24th ID, DMMC for Desert Storm and 6-43 ADA (Patriot) for Desert Falcon.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” — Jefferson`s “Commonplace Book,”

“Political tags – such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth – are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.” Robert A. Heinlein

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”- Heraclitus.

The 3rd ID patch is what replaced our 1st Armored Division patch when we returned from the first Gulf War. Thats OK I still had the 1st AD on my right shoulder.

I guess that would depend on what unit you are talking about You wouldn't be comparing twigs to branches would you?

Greetings Match308. Looks like there are a few of us still around. I had a few friends in 5/18 INF as well. I was B company armorer and had 2 arms rooms after the storm. One on Ray Barracks, the other on the "Rock" at Kirchgoens. The Rock is now closed and everything was put at Ray Barracks now. By the looks of the 3AD web site alot of changes over the years.

B Co. 1/75th(RGR)'81-'84 combat jump Operation Urgent Fury, Oct,25-29 '83; S3(Special Operations Locker) HHC 1/75th(RGR) '84-'85. Sua Sponte!

EDIT:

OOPS I didn't see the Gulf War part...anyhow that's where I was.

Thanks for the welcome. As always it's great to hear guys stories from everywhere they were. I don't think there is any friendship as close as those we make when under duress doing our jobs a long, long way from home. At some point we step back and see there is another guy doing the same or different job...but still far away from home. And there lies the bond that transcends it all. We all been there, done that...just when, and sometimes how bad. Time to come home and tell of the adventures...over a beer or scotch...and move on, but never forget those we shared the adventures with. -best to all

Every shot serves a purpose, whether accurate or inaccurate. It will always tell you what you did, and did not do, right. Even if all you have is a fraction of a second to make it, learn from it. So the next one is even better.
