A careful review of my Gun Trader's Guide doesn't show any 38 inch barrel Mossberg 500 listed. 32" is the longest.

I'd like to see a picture of that.

I've looked and looked all over the web and can't find any model 500 barrels that long.

Hadn't thought of that but the OP did specify it was a "factory" barrel.

We have turkey shoots around here,12 or 13 shooters shoot a 5 inch circle at 90 feet.most shot in the circle wins.winners get a frozen turkey or ham.sometimes they have a money shoot..

He isn't trying to find one, he has one but wants information about the number produced and when.

I hope this isn't needlessly wasting one of your post count...

I seem to remember a SHOTShow from several years back, maybe 10 or 12, where one of the exhibitors had some longer than normal barrels on display which he was touting as target barrels. Two version were on display: one for shot and one for slug. I think this was on the first or second day and by the last day he had a major manufacturer on the hook that was going to use these barrels on their shotguns. My very fuzzy memory tells me that this was Mossberg and it was going to be a limited run...

If someone doesn't come up with a better explanation, I'd get on the phone Monday and have a chat with one of the folks at Mossberg.

Best.

You need to do a search on the internet or find a gunsmith that will make you a " card " barrel for your shotgun.

Before you spend to much time searching out a long barrel, please consider 2 facts

1) Maximum velocity is obtained at about 18" in a shotgun barrel.
2) The spread of the pattern is controled by the choke (not the barrel length).

There are only 2 reasons to use a longer barrel, balance and sight plain length. How much of a advantage either of these is to the game your shooting is personal opinion, but IMHO it ain't worth the hassle of finding a longer tube (hell, just put a extended rib on it and accomplish the same thing)

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
