I can't find a price guide for old scopes. Does anyone have a value for a Leupold Mountaineer 4x w/ detacho rings & peep sight bases in very good to excelent condition about 50 years old? Thanks for any help.

Wulfman;
Stroebel's "Old Scopes" is an excellant reference. Rings and bases 50-100 bucks and the scope probably 75 to 125 off the top of my head. I collect old Leupold scopes, bases and rings as I use them on my Pre-64 Model 70's. The Mountaineer was after the Pioneer so probably mid 50's as a starter. Have gotten many off sleazebay at below Stroebel costs. Leupold holds up and the glass is always perfect. What are the base numbers? Ring size?

Madman, thanks for your info. Front base #202, rear #308. Unfortunatly, front base has ID # scratched on top & one 1" ring has same on bottom. These are on a Remington Model 740.

I have a 1955 vintage model 70 featherweight in 270win that has a mountaineer scope that was bought in 1957, still clear and looks great. I got the gun from the orginal owner, and the scope has never been sent back to the factory. For what it's worth.

Wulfman;

According to Stroebel there is no #202 the #308 is for a Savage 99 and the corresponding front # is 206. The proper bases for the 740 are #210 front and #317 rear. Bases are $25-50 /set and rings are 25-50/set. Have seen them go for more on sleazebay at times.
Hope this helps.
