some guy in my state put an ad that he has 720rds of 7.62x56 for $75. Anyone heard of this round? I'm thinking maybe he meant 7.62x54.

Just buy it. Once you have it you can work on finding a gun to match.

Yep. If nothing else, trade it at the gunshop, or sell it to them

720 rounds is the amount in some Chinese spam cans of 7.62x39 in which case that's not just a good price, it's a heck of a good price.

Buy it, I'll take it off your hands.

In his ad he also states he would trade this in order to get some 7.62x39. So now I am really confused as to what he has. Or maybe he just has no idea. Waiting to hear back from the guy now.

ends up that it is $75 for a 720rd tin of 7.62x56 (303 British). I have no need for it but it seems like a good price from what I could find.

I guess it didn't say here in the thread but I was given to understand that via email.

Even 303 Brit is a deal at that price.

My next 'target to buy' military surplus rifle. A British .303. They kick like an Alabama mule but I love em.
