Does anybody use Barnes 36gr Varmint grenade in 222Rem. or 22-250Rem.? I am thinking of trying them in both of mine. My 222Rem. is a Savage 340E with a 1-14" twist and my 22-250Rem. is a 12FV which is 1-12" twist. I would be greatful if anyone had any info on start loads for them since I have not been very fruitful in finding load data. Any info or sources would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I have a wide variety of powders that I currently use so info for any of the following powders is useful. AA2230, Win748, H380, H4895,BL-C(2), Benchmark, Varget, IMR3031, IMR4895, IMR4064, IMR4320, Reloader10x, and Reloader15

EDIT: Thanks dfletcher, matter of fact I do use the 4064, 4320, and 4895 for my 308's. The 3031 I honestly haven't used for anything yet, I bought it a few months ago to use in my 22-250 for one of the many bullets I am intending to use in my 22-250 but haven't got around to loading much for it yet.

You should post this in the Reloader forum as well.

For the 22-250 I have this info it comes from the barnes manuel.
w-748 36.5-40.5 gr
varget 36.5-40.5 gr
rl-15 36-40 gr
imr-4320 36-40 gr

For the 222
w-748 25-27.5 gr
rl-10x 21-23 gr

I have used the varmit grenedes in my 22-250 with w-748 was not very impressed with the groups.
Hope this helps

I grew up using a 340 in 222 Remington. IMR 4198 always worked very, very well for me in that caliber. I still use it in 223. I'd suggest a moderate load of IMR 4198. For 22 - 250, I have a Remington heavy barreled 700 and RL 15 has worked well, but I use a Sierra 52 BTHP.

The IMRs you listed - 3031, 4064 & 4320 - are more suited to the 308 and above cartridges, I think. The 4895 is pretty versatile, but of the IMRs I'd go with the 4198.
