I just ordered some mil-spec surplus brass and just got an email from the supplier, Jeff, a man I've used for years, a few minutes later. All things bought at a military auction is to be demilled. The only way to demill brass is to crush it. Jeff agrees that's what it means.

This just came through today. Jeff's not sure if it applies to previously purchased brass or not. I don't know whether or not this is coming down from O-buma or not, but it's ominous. Surplus guns parts and pulled bullets are next.

What a waste,i saw dumpsters full of good once fired 5.56,7.62,9 MM,and 50 cal. at Fort Riley that im sure go to some company to be reloaded because they sell for more than scrap price. Now when the Gov.realy needs the money it wants to ruin it so it cant be used for reloading and will sell for much less than scrap price, real smart idea.

Up to my ass in brass and still shooting fast

Mail, call, or email your reps on the Hill. best we can do for now and hope someone gets a clue.

I have a feeling that some of the reps don't even know about something lke this, since it would be a small blip on the current military budget radar.

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense?" -Patrick Henry

Have you ever heard of anyone being "forth-left"?

"As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion to your walks." -- Thomas Jefferson

When I lived 10 miles from Luke AFB in AZ, I submitted sealed bids for specific weights of lots of fired 9mm brass that were put up. I asked the PDO what the winning bids had been at for recent similar lot weights, before I submitted the sealed bids. I bid twice as much, both times. I didn't win either lot, and found out later that the winning bids were at half what I had bid.

Draw your own conclusions. I drew mine.

Funny, the gov't surplus websites (thanks, RugerNine) are auctioning the brass, but a message is being sent out to the contrary per Brian's link. They just want to sell it for scrap value??

Sounds like more internet nonsense. Prolly came from the same guy that said they are shredding ammo cans. If all fails, we'll buy more of that Ruskie ammo.

Surplus brass is still being auctioned off with the caveat that certain lots be demilled; those with large amounts of 25mm and other contaminants are to be demilled by squishing the case mouth. That's been going on since they started auctioning surplus brass. Nothing new here.

That makes a lot more sense. The next question is: who sent out this message to my surplus component dealer?

Yeah but, no one has reversed the import ban or the machinegun ban either.

For what it is worth, there is a copy of the information that Government Liquidation is sending out, plus another reader posted a good 'form' letter that you can send out to your reps in Congress.
