Just acquired a neat little 22 rifle. It is marked "JLG NEW YORK DEUTSCHE WERKE-WERKERFURT" "MOD 1". "CAL 22 LONG RIFLE". "GERMANY" "DRP"

Receiver and butt stock have a logo imprinted that looks like a cat laying down with a long neck and long s-shaped tail.

Anyone have any info about this rifle?

JLG is the J.L.Galef company a importer/distributor of firearms that was in business between at least the 1920's to the 1980's.

The Deutsche Werke was the name of a German firearms manufacturer in business for a short period of time after the First World War. During the 1920's, they were noted for making the Ortgies pistols, which were manufactured in quantity and sold here in the States.

Your little single shot rifle isn't nearly as common as the pistols, their is little collector demand/interest in them though.

Thank you for the reply and info. Neat old rifle from a really neat fellow. Glad to know it's origins along with the stories he has told me of it's use.
