Hope this has not been posted yet. If so, I'm sorry.

The Full Article Here: http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSTRE59E0Q920091015 U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.
The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control. http://www.morningliberty.com/2012/05/11/top-3-american-heroes-ventura-napolitano-on-bradley-manning/

Let us remember any international treaty that contradicts the Constitution and the Bill of Rights has no say inside the USA.

Obama can agree to anything it can not become a law here unless the constitution is altered first requiring a 2/3 majority of congress and individual states.

The treaty would have to be ratified, again by a 2/3 majority.

How meany democrats would vote for that knowing full well they would be thrown out for doing so let alone republicans

Scare tactics, no more (Obama is the boogie man Obama is the boogie man).
He may like the idea but has no intention of damaging his image for posterity. IMO, he is too big a narcissist to do this

News on the international level. Covering many countries. Once the legal advisors [to any sitting president] have their say-so, it can only be a dead issue.

Scenario: once a confederation of foreign powers passes a ruling on firearms (2nd Amendment), and we balk, and our government ignores the language we use vis-a-vis redress of grievances due to being a signatory to said treaty (1st Amendment, and others), it becomes a snowball going downhill.

At least two amendments shot to hell in a single stroke with the root cause being foreign legislation. I, for one, can't see it happening.

The legal mechanism of U.S. law will have conspired against it. Joe

Condition 1 is the way to go. If that makes you nervous, carry chamber empty or get a Glock.

Fine let them regulate arms sales to other nations, arms dealers whatever. Leave sales of private arms alone.

But, I look for one of the last acts of this Presidential term to be a revocation, by the Obama State Department, of many of the import permits for foreign firearms. I don't think there will be any more AK types, or police or military surplus pistols, and probably a curtailment of foreign surplus military ammo (a la Lyndon Johnson).

Control is an illusion, because nobody knows what's going to happen next.

I thought it was a little odd that a Reuters news story look such a hard line against Obama. Then I clicked on the link to the article and found that everything past the first two paragraphs isn't part of the news story even though it's made to look like it is. I don't like propaganda even if it's a slant I agree with.

It's bad enough when anti-gun organizations try to manipulate you with slanted reporting, but I thoroughly despise those who I thought shared my values, when THEY try to manipulate me. It shows a complete lack of respect.

Lord, this same argument has been going on for years. Google "constitution versus treaty" then quit worrying about this crap.

A treaty may not do or exceed what the Congress is charged to do or what it is forbidden to do. Constitutional authority supersedes, overrules, and precludes any contrary treaty authority.

Thus, if a proposed treaty would violate any provision of the Constitution, it may not even be seriously considered or debated, much less be ratified and implemented because the same restrictions that were placed by the Constitution on the U.S. Federal government are also imposed on any treaty provision.

Like it or not, Obamadama can sign all the treaties he wants to, but without Senate approval those treaties are so much toilet paper. And, despite a Democrapic Senate, I doubt that he could get the 2/3's majority needed for approval. Any Senator who would vote for such a treaty (except for Schumer and his ilk) would surely go down to defeat in the next election. The electorate may not be exactly smart, but for many reasons they are not stupid!

You are assuming that the idiots in Washington actually know this or for that matter care.
