Gents,
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this marking on a Mauser 98 before, and do you have any information about Bayard's involvement in Mauser manufacture?

The head of the knight was cut off when someone faced off the receiver ring.

This is the first time I've come across this marking. The action in question is an Turkish Ankara re-work from 1948. The Turks scrubbed most of the German markings, however, there is still the Imperial eagle on the receiver ring side, and a very, very faint Spandau marking on the receiver ring top. The Turks also removed most of the Gew. 98 marking on the side, but it is still faintly legible.

Any history would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Chris
