If not, we know what you'll be doing this weekend. Tax deadline is Tuesday, the 17th.

Don't just crastinate. Be a pro.

Finally finished Thursday night. Had a ton of corrected/reclassified investment statements for 2017.

Yeah, wifey and I both claim zero single all year but it still is not enough. We have developed a new strategy going forward. Hope that helps some.

Finished/filed weeks ago and already got the small refund.

To overpay and let the gov't use your money all year long is stupid so getting a small refund or no refund is best.

Wasted, I would honestly say over 30%.

Spending that is not a clearly constitutional part of the Federal governments job are at least another 25%.

That's not an answerable question. I'll say it is well over 50%, but you'll never get agreement on even that low estimate. When you try to make a reasonable estimate you run into things like overlap of Departments and Agencies and Departments and Agencies which shouldn't exist. Then each Department and their subdivisions, yes ALL of them have their own law enforcement divisions. I will never believe the EPA needs a separate law enforcement agency to keep us from fixing a mud hole in our driveways. That could be done by dozens of other agency law enforcement at zero expense, but we know transfer of authority and responsibility would cost millions if not billions. I could write a book on this subject but I won't.

The short answer is it depends on who you ask. People who don't pay taxes will say taxes are too low. People who pay taxes will say waste is over 75%. None of these guesses include plane old out and out theft.

Dropped everything off to the accountant last week. If he doesn't have them ready, he will just file an extension.

Much better than finding out you get a refund for that amount.

Breaking even or owing a little is always my goal.

I finished up all the forms and what not a week ago, but decided to wait to file til last night. Capital gains got me, once again, and the bill this time was ~$2500. Still better than getting a refund!

I was told by my accountant 3 years ago that I no longer needed to file a tax return.

At that time, I did some hunting and found that my local State funded Department on Aging agency did tax prep free for seniors.

Still do a return and get back about what my old accountant used to charge me to do the work.

Go figure!
