quote:
Statement from R. Lee Ermey's long time manager, Bill Rogin:

It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that R. Lee Ermey ("The Gunny") passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia. He will be greatly missed by all of us. It is a terrible loss that nobody was prepared for. He has meant so much to so many people. And, it is extremely difficult to truly quantify all of the great things this man has selflessly done for, and on behalf of, our many men and women in uniform. He has also contributed many iconic and indelible characters on film that will live on forever. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman of Full Metal Jacket fame was a hard and principled man. The real R. Lee Ermey was a family man, and a kind and gentle soul. He was generous to everyone around him. And, he especially cared deeply for others in need.

There is a quote made famous in Full Metal Jacket. It's actually the Riflemen's Creed. "This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine."

There are many Gunny's, but this one was OURS. And, we will honor his memory with hope and kindness. Please support your men and women in uniform. That's what he wanted most of all.

Semper Fi, Gunny. Godspeed.

I met him once at the SHOT Show. I actually stood next to him in the restroom...or the head as a Marine would say. I mentioned that I thought he was great as the Mayor in the film Mississippi Burning. He said thanks and then went back to the Glock display.

He seemed like a nice man. RIP.

RIP, Gunny.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” — Jefferson`s “Commonplace Book,”

“Political tags – such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth – are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.” Robert A. Heinlein

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”- Heraclitus.

Crazy non-Japo Uncle I always wanted.

Let me think what movies I have that he's in? "Man Of The House", "Saving Silverman". I know I have more. He tends to pop up and I'll say "there's Gunny working".

Well, he certainly had quality over quantity in his careers.I saw him at the NRA convention once but the line was too long for an autograph. May he rest in peace.

Yes a lot of old military guys have no conception about protection of their health. My grandfather was an old-time pharmacist in his day and died with The swine flu, they had no flu vaccines in his day.

But the earth has many plants that can be effective in the prevention of sickness plus modern sport supplements if you do your homework.

RIP... what a character

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.
