We have a cluster of thunder storms that are spawning hail storms and tornadoes all over the place. Well, two confirmed that I know of so far. The National Weather Service says one of them will pass me seven miles to the west. That's a little too close for comfort for me. I hope their measuring device has been calibrated.

About every hour the National Weather Service sounds off on the emergency radio and extends the warnings and watches for another hour.

The last time we had a weather system set up like this a tornado passed a little over a hundred yards East of my house. That one was supposed to be seven miles too. I was unbelievably lucky on that one. The tornado crossed a cow pasture and if there was any local damage I didn't find it. I hope I haven't used up all my luck.

What I thought was interesting, the National Weather Service said one storm system was headed North-East at 70 miles per hour and the other was same direction at 45 miles per hour. 70 MPH is moving right along for wind speed. I don't think I've seen storms move that fast in the USA.

Rain, and wind up to 40 mph here this afternoon/evening. Just quieted down a little bit ago.

James,
We got hammered here by that same front in Lunchbag at 8:00. Missed us by 1/2 mile but really tore up a lot of businesses.

The National Weather Service must have called it right. Me and the dog and the house are still here.

Praise the lord, we would hate to have to replace you with remote girl or somebody else.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Tornado touched down in New Castle,Va . which sits in a bowl surrounded by 3800 ft . mountains. So much for mountains protecting you.
