Senator Lindsey Graham just publicly advised the Pentagon that US dependants in S Korea should start evacuating.

Not even imminent, much less eminent.

If the Pentagon starts accepting strategic threat evaluations from Lindsey Graham, we're well and truly screwed.

Waiting for a big rocket "dud" by NK to start something. One of his "duds" falling on Japan or elsewhere.

Hopefully this doesn't get fat boy so nervous that a US strike is IMMINENT causing him to lash out first,in turn, giving us an excuse to attack.

As interesting as that would be I doubt it. I see them shooting their foot off before they actually do the first strike. The first time they put a payload into one of the missiles I see it going "kaboom" on the pad.

I do like this two loose cannons on two opposing ships with this white squall on the horizon. Interesting times we live in.

Hopefully their missiles will reach California!

I noticed an interesting report that an airliner witnessed the re-entry of the latest missile. There was a mention in the report that they saw it break up as it re-entered. That's the only such report I have seen but it could be very significant.

The fact they got that far means they are making fast progress. Most things are learn as you go, they are learning. We had problems during development too.

Gruntled, the reentry that the airliner saw (assuming we're referencing the same news story) was actually a failed satellite launch by the Russians, and it was over the North Atlantic.

Rest assured, though, that we watched the NORK launch with high-def radar. It's kind of them to have them come down where we can get good intel, ain't it?

In previous NORK tests the payload broke up or burned up (both, actually) during reentry. So even though they may be able to fly long distance, they have apparently not yet learned how to build a survivable reentry vehicle. Nor is there any evidence their nukes would still be functional even if they managed to get the heat shield back through the atmosphere.

Little Fat Boy's grandfather, Kim Il Sung, got a bee in his bonnet to re-unite Korea (he would be President of re-united Korea of course) and went to Moscow to see Josef Stalin to get his blessing and help on his planned attack on South Korea. Stalin wanted no part of war with the U. S. but promised Kim air support which was never forthcoming, if indeed Kim carried out the attack and recommended he go to Mao in China and ask for HIS support. Mao said he would help if Kim attacked.

So in June, 1950, Kim launched seven combat ready divisions across the border and the fight was on. I don't think China wants any part of little fat one because of her economic ties with the U. S. but, on the other hand, little fat one doesn't show much reasoning power beneath that terrible haircut. I think tho it all depends on China. You can bet they are keeping a wide open eye on this. Further I knoweth not.

All out war with NK shouldn't last over 30 minutes. It won't be like the Korean war was. Stubby will get a new haircut in the process.

If warmonger Graham has his way, probably so.

Here's the scenario...

1. Fat boy does something stupid. (i.e. launches and detonates a nuke in low earth orbit) (NK has no targeting ability beyond this)

2. China IMMEDIATELY "KILLS" Kim Jong Un...instantly! (like in one millisecond) Exterminates him, and levels the earth for 75 miles around him!

3. Game OVER!

Much like the reds during the cold war, they have disintegration issues on re-entry. Even when they solved that problem, they had a 200 mile +/- targeting variance for decades.

It's alot of hype over 'political posturing' IMO

The little fat kid with the rice bowl haircut knows he doesn't stand a prayer in hell chance against the USA....but he keeps throwing jabs to stay 'looking big' in the eyes of his 'people.'

The best thing the USA has done is when Trump said if NK tried anything, we would reign hell and fire on them and they would cease to exist.

The best thing the NEWS MEDIA could do is ignore anything the fat kid says and stop airing pics of the squirt.

The government has no rights. Only the PEOPLE have rights that empower the government.

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.

Correction and apology to gruntled:

There were two separate airliner crews who witnessed space reentries recently. One was of the failed Russian satellite launch I described above, but there was also one that may have seen the NORK launch, as gruntled said. Here's that story...

http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Air_crew_saw_N_Korea_missile_re-enter_atmosphere_999.html

If in fact they did see the vehicle "break up" it verifies what I said about the NORKs not yet having a reentry heat shield that would protect any warhead back through the atmosphere.

So if the funny fat kid manages to get a warhead small enough to mount on a missile and then decides to launch said missile prior to perfecting his re-entry vehicle, where will all the fissile material wind up when the warhead burns up on re-entry?
Could that be considered an attack with a dirty bomb?

Some, most, or all of the fissile material would burn up. Whatever didn't would be on the ground. The rest would be in the air, blown wherever.

Any such launch would be more than a dirty bomb attack. It would be a nuclear strike, period. Any missile on a trajectory to hit us would be considered a nuclear attack, even before reentry. Responses would be launched or in process by then.

find it interesting that in 2013 the US and Canada REDUCED the number and scheduling of airborne radiation tests and also testing fish after the Fukishima meltdown ?????????? seems like they should have upped the ante for safety's sake .....so why worry about a NK nuke missle fizzle now ??

Honestly I think lil Kim is just beating his chest. Most US presidents would have backed down to him by now. He had not anticipated a president who might be crazy enough to actually fight back instead of throwing money at him. I think he is a little scared.
