And I thought the economy for the little guy was getting better! Of course, we could blame Costco instead. What do you think? Personally, I think it's the wages given to semi-skilled workers here in America!Mostly Hispanics immigrants.

Sam’s Club locations across the country are abruptly closing for good without warning to staff and customers.

The Lithonia Sam’s Club closed for good on Thursday.

“We don’t take this lightly and decisions like these are incredible difficult. This decision is based on a number of factors, including financial performance,” said Phillip Keene, Director of Corporate Communications.

Hourly employees will continue to be paid for 60 days while they look for other jobs within other Sam’s Club or Walmart locations.

Last time I went through the Lithonia area, it was not a very nice place. I lived between there and Stone Mountain many years ago, but I moved away when I saw the trend going toward fewer and fewer residents looking like me, if you get my drift.

Well, since they're part of Walmart I say good riddance, close them all!

Oh yeah, and lets blame Costco. Since they pay excellent wages, and benefits, and still put Walmart to shame on every aspect.

Is this how this works?? The minimum wage went up, the stores that are closing are low volume stores. Profit & loss shows CLOSE !

Hourly employees get 60 days pay while looking for a new job. I think that's pretty generous. Most places would simply say SOL.

Definitely COSTCOS's fault.

Sam's Club saw COSTCO giving refunds for "DEAD CHRISTMAS TREES" Three weeks after Christmas and knew the 'jig was up".

I've never understood the idea of paying to shop in a store. They did have some many years ago that had a ONE TIME life fee but $45/yr sounded insane to me. Costco does have a good deal on the big hot dog & coke but that is outside & open to everyone.

Super Walmart here is revamping the front of the store.

Will only have 8 checkouts manned by personnel, all others will be self checkout (total of 24). Pick up of items onlinein front also.

New carts will have a scanner,, and items put in carts will be scanned. Making check out easier. Friend works in local management and said it will stream line the the check out process.

Loss of 50 part time jobs.

We have 3 Amazon distribution center within 100 miles, so a item ordered is usually there the next day.

Only 1 Walmart distribution center within 100 miles.
Can see where Walmart would need more distribution centers with their increase up internet sales.

The bean counters may have decided Sams wasn't needed when they have all the WalMarts to sell the same merchandise ... and maybe at more profit.

I suspect in most of the 'hoods on that list that unless the membership fee is covered by EBT that they are hurting for members...

The method in which they did it shows the management is lower class than even the employees.

I've also had several people tell me that you had to watch prices close because sometimes Sam's club prices where higher than Walmart's.

For those who believe Obama is the Messiah remember, prophecy tells use the antichrist will proceed the TRUE Messiah.

If they announce ahead of time some employees will steal them blind. They are giving 60 days pay, how is that low class? This isn't a Mom and Pop store with a couple of employees.

Locally to me in cinnamon NJ the Walmart and Sam's club are in the same shopping center and only a few hundred yds apart.

The township before allowing the Walmart to be built got them to agree to pay the salary for several additional police officers

Walmart unless you kill or rape or embezzled goes out of there way to not prosecute criminals and people of color especially get a pass

It's not a nice place and not filled with nice folks employees or customers

The store is always a dump and trashed and the employees are on there cell phones on the floor or hiding together talking

And there are like 20 registers but never more than 3 open at once

And the check the receipt and bag thing I do not submit to - I did not steal and don't fit the profile - I just keep walking and stare the guy down

They also limit most employees hours to under 32 so they don't have to offer health care or other benefits

It's not a pretty reality behind the curtain they put up

I pay the fee for the warranty/return policy at Costco. But this past week they have dropped selling the polish dog, so I won't shop there much more.

Where I live in a tourist area, when one of the big chains goes down it puts a great hardship on the local workforce.

Here there is a slogan: "You get a view of the bay for half the pay."

Even with the generous 60 day payment, for many around here it would mean quite a long period of unemployment.

There is NO middle class here anymore. Only the very wealthy and the working poor.

You're right but couldn't Walmart have made these into "retail websales outlets? If nothing else a "pickup" point, free boxes, etc.,, maybe showrooms for some items? Small up charge for assistance with ordering. Parking lots full of home delivery trucks for those that need it. Also, why not ask GBGD for suggestions?

A recipe for civil unrest as The NWO along with Federal Reserve with Congress has sold out The Middle Class. They also have destroyed the Faith in Fiat Money and have put all taxpayers in considerable debt with their polices and short sightness with funding imports on borrowed currency!

Also they failed to develop a liveable employment to it's own middle class citizens who they steal and tax from daily.

I'd assume you're talking about Obummer doubling the national debt.

As far as selling out the Middle Class, just exactly what policy or law did congress pass? Unfair to name all of them.

That's pretty much the way it is many places.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand why our representatives delegated it's own authority to regulate our currency to a privately own entity called a central bank. This is the biggest elephant in the room that will and has destroyed our great country.

Jefferson said in a letter to John Taylor in 1816, “And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.

The Sam's store here opened today with 25% discounts. The line was outside the store for hours waiting to get in. I don't think the wind chill got above zero today.

I think they are a rare exception and are being forced to pay their employees better.

Costco pissed me off with that. You can buy Costco Gift cards with Amex online and then use it at the store without buying a membership...

F em..

As a member, I just buy their gift card in the store at the cash register and use it to buy my gas. No other card required here.

since Sam Walton died and his liberal daughter took over, I say, good riddance. After he died, she took all the sporting goods sections out of all our Walmarts. I have to go two states over to find any resemblance of a sporting good selection in their stores. We shop at Bj's wholesale club.
