We are looking at building a new deplex her in the next couple of years. So we thought be would get a couple of bids to see what we need to save for a down payment. To have it built buy union and not picketed we will pay 25-30K more. I guess we will put up with the picketers.
Typically, the "Offended Union" will go to a Brother/Sister Union Hall nearby, and offer "Strike Pay" to all in the Hall looking for work. They Bus or Carpool to the Strike/Picket Line, and use the signage that the Offended Union has provided. This is Kinda Clever, and has the benefit of allowing the "Offended/Striking Union" to Claim: "None of Our Members would commit any of the crimes" claimed by the Company the strike is against. Also may Protect the Union from claims for Damage.
Often, Meals and/or T-Shirts are provided.
In many Unions, getting a "Job Card" is withheld until "Picket Hours" are credited in One's Union Book.
