Berns Steak House was everything everybody said it was going to be. We were seated in the bronze room. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. Our party of five couples took the kitchen tour then the wine cellar tour. We were told that they are rated the number two Restraunt in the country for their steaks and rated number one in the country for having the largest wine cellar. There is 100,000 bottles of wine in the cellar of the restaurant and they bought a old warehouse across the street and totally redid the inside to hold 500,000 more bottles all climate controlled. Our group was totally impressed. I would go back for another special occasion.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Even back in the 70s, their wine list was the size of an unabridged dictionary.

Glad you had a good time Gary. Bern's is one of the things I miss from when we lived in Tampa along with Manatee gun and archery club, cuban sandwiches and the 1905 salad from the Columbia restaurant.

There is a little hole-in-the-wall steakhouse in Thayer, Kansas by the name of Big Ed's Steakhouse. Best steaks I have ever eaten. I deer hunt close by in the winter and have to hit the steakhouse once or twice.

Hunt with your son today instead of hunting for him tomorrow.

Looked at their menu. Does indeed look good. I note they don't boil their steak in a bag so it can't be bad.

"Also he [David] bade them teach the children of Judah [the use of] the bow" -Samuel

"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it." -Col. Jeff Cooper

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
