Any of you guys played this PC game yet. Boy talk about intense. It like being in Saving Private Ryan, but you get to make decisions, and push the button to kill the Nazi yourself. I highly recommend this game. Got mine for $16.99 at Wal-Mart or Target, don't remember which.

You start in the stone age and you get clubmen and rock throwers.
You then advance to I think it's the copper age, you get stables and archery range where you can get horse dudes and archers.
After a couple ages you get a siege factory where you can get some neat destruction devises. your armies are getting better with guns.
After a couple more ages you get modern infantry, tanks, fighter planes and bombers.
In the last age you get sci fi toys, like laser towers, fancy robots(I think 10 different ones), nuclear bombers.
all the time you are building up your army you also have to build and manage your city, you need to keep you workers going because the army takes ALOT of money(why isnt that surprising?), you need to put up walls and towers for defense, you need to explore the map, find your enemy and keep him from gettin too big, the computer opponent is VERY aggressive!
There is so much to the game, you can have a max population of 600. I cannot describe it all to you, but picture starting out with nothing but clubs and going thru WW2 style armies to full blown nuclear attacks. It also has water maps where later in the ages you can get aircraft carriers with REAL fighters/bombers, triton subs that will devastate a city from way out in the sea. Attack boats and attack subs. The possibities are endless, it is a truly amazing game and is so involving that once you get into a good game with lots of fighting it will turn you into a googly eyed geek! the first half hour is kinda boring but once the game starts movin you cannot get away from the computer because it moves FAST, it gets so intense I waste a half a pack of smokes in three hours, light 'em and forget 'em!
The computer opponents are fierce on easy! hard as hell to beat it. It has campaigns that takes you thru different levels and tasks.
If you ever played Age Of The Empires and liked it, you will fall deeply in love with this one. Just take Age Of The Empires and multiply it by 100, this game is awsome as hell, well worth the $40! get it and then get ahold of me, we can hook up and play online. Since I have been taking it easy and drawing unemployment( Being lazy) I have been playing this game solid for weeks, the wife aint happy about it but I love it!
go to this site here, you can find out quite a bit about it.

you know what why dont you post your computer specs and net speed (56k, cable, dsl, etc) and ill try to tell you your weak points with your comp and how to fix it and if you have 56k i would strongly suggest you find out about getting dsl and if you cant get that go for cable and if you cant get either of those then I feel for you.
7MM the High Tech Redneck
p4 2ghz
intel 850 chipset mobo
512 rambus ram (pc800)
generic 7200 rpm hd (only thing a faster hd allows is faster loading once you get in its all ram baby)
generic 52x cdrom (we only use that for dungeon seige cause it requires the cd)
voodoo 4 ti 4600 (ohhhh yeah thats the stuff)
19"nec MultiSync fe950+ flat screen monitor (no its not a liquid display those ones suck for graphics)
logitech laser mouse (i call it my logitech aimbot)
sound blaster audidigy
and for sound i use my grado sr-80 headphones
and of corse a keyboard
and a 1.1/1.1 meg sdsl line and we have a server box hosting 2 hl servers (one pub one priv) and our 1ghz pentium and a p2 celly 500 and my bro is currently shoping for an amd and in about 2-3 months im going to buy an amd 2000 or 2100 and put it in my room
so lets put it this way when you walk into the living room you see computers here computers there and then you stub you toe on a pos monitor we only use when we are making a new comp for someone and need to format it for em :P
btw i would suggest you purchas hl and try counterstrike and day of defeat cause imho there are the best 2 games out right now (actually cs is begining to suck but is still good)
Aww, what the heck, there are 4 of those 15" dual sub cabinets + the 3 speaker surround in the stereo and a creative labs sub system on the 'puter for a total 9 speakers and one sub, all of it is tied together, the stereo is connected in and out on the sound card and when I crank it all up, well I'll tell you this much, my neighbors hate me! I hear ACDC the way it was intended to be heard, LOUD!
I use this for a bunch of different things and one of the best installs I made on it that really helps the games is the IMSI cd copier program, it makes an extra drive letter and you install the game to it from the cd, then you never have to use the cd again, it all comes off the hard drive so you don't need to put up with lag when the cd spins up. When the kids have freinds over I can ghost two dedicated game servers at once so they can play Quake or unreal together and this thing never bogs down. I tried to get this thing to error out on me by running Adobe premeir , sonic foundry sound forge, Audio grabber and Audio Catalyst(simultanious cd rip) and even run Audioactive production all at the same time and I couldnt stall it! It got choppy but never errored out on me! Amd made a beliver out of me, I couldnt do that on the P4.
One question, what board are you running with that 2.4? The Asus board I had on my P4 wouldnt take anything larger that the 1.4, when I went to upgrade I decided to go with the AMD because this board will go alot higher. Only problem with this Abit Kr7A is I had to reflash the chipset for the Soundblaster to work.
Sorry for the long post but I love talking computers with someone who seems to enjoy thwm as much as me, no offense but but most of the guys here are happy with a store bought Dell and to me store bought 'puters S****, I get much more enjoyment out of building my own. hey do you have a program for CPU testing? I want one but cant seem to find one.

sorry its not a 2.4 its only 2ghz and the board is an intel D850MV and it does use rambus ram not ddr
i would suggest you go to your local comp place and buy an audidigy cause well there just much better cards and with your sound setup it would probably be one of the best investments you make (there just under 100 here) and do those speakers have 2 15" woofers each or is it only one and how many watts do you have going to each and how much over all and is it set up for true surround sound or what. Im really interested in the sound part cause when i get a comp in my room im going to hook it up to the stereo in my room
2 floor speakers with a 10" a 4ish" and a 3ish" speaker in each with a 200 watt max to each although im only running 175 to each right now and i have the tv going through it along with my vcr and dvd player (stereo and dvd player are kinda my parents they just let me use em :P) so im going to hook the comp i get to that and then ill end up buying my own surround sound reciever and my own speakers and stuff then ill have true surround sound and ill have to find somewhere to sleep in my room (no rrom for a bed :P)
about the vid card...the geforce 4 ti 4600 is a 128 meg ddr card and is currently the top vid card out there
oh and as i posted earlier the amd chips are better if you compare a 1.4 p4 to a 1.4 amd and only compare the chip but because pentium CAN go to 2.4 ish (i think im not sure) and has the rambus ram (pc800 ram) they become a better system (note how i say system not chip cause i do know the amd is by far a better chip alone)
well i think thats it for now...

I'm not sure who has the biggest CPU now, but there is a part of me that still wants pentium. The Motherboard and articles on the gaming sites got me to try this AMD, I was scared as heck doin it because i was always Pentium, but this thing works great. I always compared AMD to a celeron and we all know what a celeron is, JUNK! but this works pretty good. I may go back to pentium depending on what I feel like next upgrade, I never keep a system together for long because as soon as you spend $400 on a motherboard and CPU they come out with a bigger one, 8 months ago this was a BADASS machine, now it is behind the times already!
Do you use XP? I have a couple copies of it and I absolutely hate it, for running heavy software it is sssssllllloooooooowwwwwwwwww. I never had it in here long enogh to try the games in it but I'm curious how it works with the games. WME has me hooked for now.

if you have enough cash and dont mind spending it and want that bad * beat everyone else all balls out hot rod maching go pantium and get rambus ram and a geforce 4 ti 4600
if your on a budget then go amd cause you can get a really good machine that will hold its own for about half the price if not less
with the vid card if your talking baout s-video then all the geforce 4's has it and i think the 3's have it also
yes we are running xp pro and for games there is nothing better but if you hardly game i think me is fine although if you do game a lot then i suggest (assuming the friend i know knew wtf he was talking about wich he normally does considering he runs servers :P ) you either go to back to 98 se (lol) or go to xp pro (dont know about home ed) cause it will run your games better than me for some reason i forgot.
if you machine is an amd xp 1700 then its fine and will be fine for a while longer and unless you game a whole lot loke we do at this house then amd would be the way to go (wich it sounds like you do a lot of music) but i strongly suggest you go for that audidigy.
ps you didnt tell me how many watts your running

The video card has S-Video but it also has a regular TV tuner for cable, then it has the adapters to run RCA audio and video feed in and out. I have 2 VCRS(cheapys) and a camcorder hooked to it and my Direc TV satalite.
A friend of mine told me all I need is a fridge, microwave and a toilet then I will never have to leave my "office"! My wife is glad I have all of this because I leave rher alone, the only time she gets mad is when I feel the need for extreme volume and I start rattlin the windows downstairs.
That sound card you mentioned, what all software works with it? I would be lost without my mixing software that came with this card.
And actually the price on this CPU and board wasnt too far off the pentium of the same class when I bought it, but for a cheaper CPU it works pretty good. Maybe someday I will build me a dual pentium machine, a friend of mine built one of those before Win ME came out and '98 didnt like it at all.
