Personalizing/Decorating your service guns.

Maybe it's just me, but I can never seem to just leave my service guns alone. By this I mean I usually am painting them to a small degree. For examples, on a Ruger Mkll I owned I put black paint into the warning label on the barrel, and also in the serial number, and red into the "Ruger" on the side of the receiver. I did the same to my SR, putting red in the "Red"hawk part. On my Buckmark Target I added gold paint to the browning logo in the grip panels. Just seems to add a little distinctive touch to the guns. I plan on putting gold into the lettering on my new Taurs 85 .38 snubbie. Mind you I would never do this to a collectible gun such as a Win Model 12, or to an extrememly fine rifle like a Weatherby. Just to the guns I shoot on a regular basis. I've never seen any other used guns done up this way at any of the shows I've attended, and the one I did sell the buyer didn't seem to mind at all. Does/has anybody here do this as well?

Politicians, like diapers, should be changed often and for the same reason.

There's a dealer who comes to every gun show here with Enfields and Mausers. He whitens the stampings on them, maybe to show off what he's got, maybe to justify his high prices. If it adds a personal touch that you are proud of, do it. Some people would object, but some people object to anything that alters the gun. Enjoy.
