I think Heaven give us dogs while we are here on earth as a little piece of heaven while we are here to enjoy and have at least one true and faithful friend, especially when lonely or troubled. IMHO.

There was a good Twilight Zone about that. I don't remember the name of it. Some old guy and his dog got killed * hunting and wound up at a place he thought was Heaven, but they wouldn't let his dog in so they went on down the road and found out that was really hell. Heaven let both of them in.

A dog is incapable of sin. Nor can they receive Christ as their Savior. I don't think that animals have a spirit.

I am counting on seeing my little buddies again...if they are not there waiting for me when I arrive, I am going to leave and go somewhere else.

To believe animals have no spirit nor soul is so sad... And even sadder to be so egotistical as to believe that we humans are the only beings so blessed.

Animals commit no sins? Maybe not against God, but certainly against their humans. Did you never see a dog who knew very well he had sinned against the master? Or a cat caught in the wrong place at the wrong time? No my friend, animals have both spirit and soul.

Think about it for a moment... God is said to have given us this world and dominion over it. It could be argued in the case of many animals that they were created by man. This is certainly true of dogs and cats, and is true for just about any domestic animal one can name.

I've come to believe that God intended for man to learn from our creations. In many ways there exists a parallel between man's mastery over a pet and God's mastery over man. If a man were to be blessed and "saved" by a loving God, then I can only conclude that this same loving God would include those beings chosen by man.

Notice the word love. I believe love is the key. By this I don't mean that the life of any living thing is worthless, only that a vast majority of life is not special as there exists no real bond with man.

"Special" denotes a relationship that goes beyond mere familiarity. I can become familiar with a garden snake or toad. I can become familiar with fish in a pond. I can become familiar with just about any living creature, but only the ones sharing a bond of love become special.

Tell me that my canine friend who'd willingly give his or her life to save mine isn't worthy of consideration by a loving God. In fact, I pray daily that I might be as worthy as they.

No my friend, neither spirit nor soul is reserved for man. Love is a bond transcending species. The blessing (or curse) to mankind is that we've been given a somewhat deeper understanding than those we share this life with. We can sin against God. They can't.

    Damn!

I expected all the regular religious posters to chime in with their "opinions."

I mean, where are Barzilla, and ECC and P3Sky, etc?

I thought this would be some heavy theological discussion...

I'm not a Biblical Scholar but I don't think the question is addressed in the Bible. The Bible does mention animals or animal like creatures in Heaven. I hope they do. [:)]

If people have what is commonly known as a soul, it's pretty obvious to me that dogs do too. They have brainwaves just like humans do, exhibit emotion, have memory, and prefer company rather than solitude. They are better than people in that they live with unconditional love. The video from Chile that showed a dog pulling his dead running mate off a busy freeway at great risk to himself is proof enough for me.

There is a series of books by Gary Kurz that addresses this. I have read all of them and I believe that I will see all of my four leggers again as long as I don't screw up and fail to get to heaven.

Here is a link to the website:
