AB50 (Koretz) - .50 Caliber Rifle Ban - would ban the sale/possession of rifles that are chambered for the .50 BMG cartridge. AB50 is on the Assembly Floor.

AB 992 (Ridley-Thomas) - Ammo Tax - This bill would levy a tax on the sale of ammunition of 10 cents on every cartridge sold at retail to fund a #147;Victims Reimbursement Fund.#148; AB992 is on the Assembly Floor.

SB489 (Scott) - Semi-Auto Handgun bill - would have required that all semiautomatic handguns, manufactured after a specific date - that are imported and sold in California, be equipped with a loaded chamber indicator and a magazine disconnect mechanism. SB489 is on the Senate Floor.

SB601 (Perata) - .50 Caliber Handgun Ban - would ban sale/possession of .50 caliber handguns. This bill is aimed specifically at the new S&W .500 Magnum cartridge but would also ban others. SB601 is still on the Suspense File in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

My Dad was born in San Francisco in 1919. When he got out of the army at the end of WWII he could see trouble on the horizon. In 1948 he loaded up his truck and left that state.

His dad offered him a 160 acre farm in the Napa valley if he would move back. He said no. Money didn't mean that much to that man. He had pride.

I am related to a large portion of the Napa valley and have never met most of those people.

My sister lived in Orange County in the mid 1980's. I have been there a couple of times. I wouldn't trade one square foot of my place for that whole state.

    81st FA BN WWII...Thanks Dad

Until they throw the bums out of office they deserve these constitutional know-nothings. I don't think there is any hope of straightening out the mess that is Kalifornia state law until the Supreme Court bats it aside with a wake-up ruling on the Second Amendment and informs them all what "the people" can and cannot do, in reality -- which is someplace they don't live.

My opinion is the people of Kalifornia put those people in office and want them to do this or they would not keep them in office. I will never return to that country.

I don't want your sympathy, Chuck, just a little support and understanding from a fellow firearms enthusiast. Also, I resent you comparing me, or any other Californian shotist to an alcoholic. You don't know me, you don't know my life situation, and you certainly shouldn't assume that I would want to be like you. I have found that running away from my problems doesn't solve them. Your mileage may vary.

For those of you who have chosen to leave California because you were fed up with the crap that goes on in this state, I applaud you. It can be a tough decision to make. It often involves leaving family and friends behind and maybe limiting your opportunities. Just don't expect me to follow the same path simply because it worked for you.

For those of you who have never lived in California and still think that you know exactly what should be done or what we should do with our lives, pull your heads out and think before you spout off about something which you are clearly ignorant of.

Ideas are far more powerful than guns. We don't let our people have guns. Why should we let them have ideas?

For what it's worth, I am going to the link and do what I can. I still feel that it is up to the people to replace all those liberals they have put in office. I don't believe it will never happen. Everyone seems to think that their representative is the only good one.

I'd like to see a joint non-damaging operation by an elite citizen group in California.

Pull down all U.S. flags in U.S. Federal Courts in Californistan (9th Circus Court) and put up a North Korean flag. Put up signs on I-80 going into California "Welcome to the People's Republic of California" with a North Korean flag flying above it.

Have a bunch of people in freakin clown suits in front of the 9th Circuit Court holding signs "Welcome to the Land of Fruits and Nuts" and "For The 9th Circus Court Enter Here"......

    Who's with me on this?

Not a soul. We don't want to disturb a Californian's quality of life.

Wait until the oil runs out, they won't be quiet then.

Ouch! Nice turnaround. I applaud you for staying and trying to make things better. Most, however, have abandoned the state of California as a sinking ship, and I cannot necessarily say I disagree. I'll send emails of course, but barring some form of miracle, you people seem to be on a quick ride down the slippery slope.

If you don't pay attention to what is happening politically in California you are being foolish. With a population of 35 million it is the 800 pound gorilla of U.S. politics. On the national level the liberal democrats no longer point to California as a socialist paradise, in fact they hardly mention it anymore. This because it is a fiscal and management disaster. The state has budget deficit of 38 billion. That is more than the total of all the other states. Democratic Gov. Davis is facing a possible recall election later this year even though he was elected for a second term last November. Keep those letters, faxes, and phone calls to the Governor and Atty.Gens office going! The winds of change are rising in the Golden State...............Hondo

I think Shootist is pointing out that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is not a California court, it is a Federal court. Also, for what it's worth, note that the Ninth has jurisdiction over many western states other than California.

    HAH!!!
The only ways to 'stick up' the 9th circus are with a gun or with glue! As Norman Dog stated, I was simply pointing out that it is a FEDERAL COURT, not a CALIFORNIA COURT, politicians that all of you elected appointed (or confirmed) its members!

As hondo said, it is the 800 pound gorilla, with 13% of the population comes 13% of the House of Representatives and 13% of the electorial votes. It is axiomatic in American life that as California goes, so goes the nation.

Rather than dumping on KA, you would be better off trying to help stem the tide. Use the link above and send an e-mail to every KA legislator (copy offeror's letter and 'personalize' it). It is simple and you can send to all with a single click. Politics aside, KA is a beautiful state, rich farm land, towering mountains, great beaches, scenic deserts. From my house, it is a little over an hour to go from surfing to skiing! Why leave all this to the bad guys! California needs your help!
