Google sent out an email to Google Adwords customers saying that they are going to pull all Google Shopping results for guns, ammunition, gun optics and gun accessories (Shopping results, not general search results).

Yep, I don't know what people expect on a free service ... I really do not see anything wrong.

Why people use Google shopping for as mentioned on their policy is beyond me ... but that's just MHHO.

Any idea "WHY" they're doing this..? A liberalistic insurrection??

I typically will search the shopping tab to get an idea of current values...

They haven't started, at least as yet. I just googled '1911 9mm magazines for sale', and besides vendor sites, I got Amazon, Nextag and others, who listed as many as 38 retailers.

Yep the link said some servers are still showing gun related items.
Also, it said sellers may not deal in guns, ammo ect. Items will still show until pulled or blocked

I think retailers have to pay to have their site linked???? So not free to some. Im sure Captfun will have some info on it.

Typed in .38 special ammo, hit enter. Looked for "shopping", clicked on it and all kinds of retailers popped up!

This was the first time I ever used this feature........didn't know it even existed!

Too bad if it's discontinued, it is something I would use regularly, to compare prices.

One has to wonder about googles political agenda. [;)]

I think that Google is doing this because of their foreign marketplace. They seem to be learning a lesson from their Chinese fiasco and do not want to alienate any anti-gun regime such as the European Common Market countries.
The ECM bureaucrats in Belgium, with a pen stroke, could easily ban Google because of firearms ads, which might cause un-lawful, unhealthy, and immoral -to them- desires in their male population. And I am not even considering our Southern neighbors, like Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela.
This would cost them ga-zillions of bucks! So, in comparison, the loss of a few of us gun people doesn't really bother them very much. BTW, I don't use them at all anyway-so no big loss!

For price comparisons on ammo, I usually go to 'Gun-deals'. You can get a snapshot of the prices from most internet sellers, on most calibers, and links are provided for immediate access to the sites. 'AmmoEngine' is another one.

Up until now, Google shopping was free. (just like GunBroker.com was the first 9 months or so that we were open) We pushed all our listings that met their qualifications up every night, and it really did help bring in some customers that may not have known about us. A while back they started rejecting our files without a lot of feedback. There were still plenty of guns listed, but just none of ours. Turns out it was because the way sellers list items they were including some words in the title that Google did not like (some of these are against the GB user agreement also, but I digress.) Anyway there were a number of stores that were able to push their inventory up and got a lot of traffic and a lot of sales.

If you are paying google for anything, it all refers to one user agreement which like the other Cali companies does not permit guns, ammo and sharp sticks. So they will not take our money for AdWords, they won't take our money for the Google Shopping Cart and now they won't take our money for the Shopping Engine.

Actually it evens the playing field with the shops that were listing items and getting traffic we could not touch. So, while I am disappointed in their decision I can't say that it was not expected.

Oh, and they still index our listings as well as the forums (that we allow them to) the listings just do not show up in shopping.
