Most memorable Easter Sunday

Each holiday I usually take a little time to myself and remember the past years and what happened on that holiday. So, what is you most memorable Easter moment. Doesn't have to be favorite, just the one that sticks with you. Here is mine...

I was 15 years old at the time. The day started off fairly normal. We went to Sunday morning mass and then picked up donuts and chocolate milk(every Sunday treat [:p]) on the way home. We ate breakfast and then began getting everything gathered up to make the 45 minute drive to my aunt & uncle's place where we always celebrate Easter. Up to this point everything was quite normal.

Once we got up there we socialized a little and as usual, a bunch of us walked over to the school basketball courts and played a couple of games. I went to put a crossover move on my brother and slipped on the sandy court and smashed my knee on the ground. I was in immediate pain and grabbed my ankle while screaming and cussing. My brother and cousin took off for the house while my uncle tried to calm me down and look me over. At this time I was getting light headed and probably in a little bit of shock from the pain and I am not going to lie...tears were flowing.

About 10 minutes later my parents pulled up in their van and came to check out the situation. Dad looked it over and asked if I thought we should go see a doctor. I was fairly calmed down by this time and I told him I thought I would be okay. Now keep in mind, at this point in my life I had never even sprained my ankle, so I had no idea what it felt like. Dad made the call that we should probably head to the local clinic to get it checked out at least, so off we went.

When we arrived I limped into the clinic and onto the doctor's table. The doc felt around a little and asked me a few questions before deciding he wanted an x-ray. When he came back, he asked my parents to come over and take a look and asked them how the heck I walked in like I did. Turned out I had a fractured tibia and a dislocated ankle(which caused the fracture).

Best part of the whole story was that because it was Easter Sunday and I was considered a non-emergency patient that they set it back in place, wrapped it up and told me to go home until the next morning. You can guess how much sleep I got that night! [:0]

You want pain, would have been Easter 1968. Laid up at home with what my mom thought was the flu. Could not even stand up had to walk bent over face almost into my Knees.

That next Monday went to the Doctor, then straight to the Operating room to remove my Appendix. The could not get my fever down so ended up 2 weeks in the Hospital Most in Isolation cause they did not know what was wrong. Ended up they did not get all the Poison from the appendix out, so they had to open me back up and let it drain on its own.

I guess this is memorable, though I don't remember it. I was born on Easter sunday, April 6, 1958.

I think the first Easter was probably the most memorable.....

MY most memorable one was when I was little and we went to sunrise service. I remember eating a BOATLOAD of doughnuts beforehand and then participating in the service. I was one of the people "whipping" Jesus as he carried the cross.

Least I think so, it was a long time ago......

The Easter Sunday my family spent in Mitchell's Radiator Shop. We always traveled on Easter Sunday to visit my Mom's family in Williamsport. On this particular trip, the thermostat on the family truckster took a crap. I felt bad about pulling poor Mr. Mitchell away from his Easter dinner. We ended up calling my Uncle Tom and Uncle Joe, who drove down in my Pappy's Dodge Aspen station wagon, we loaded up our suitcases, crammed into the car, and left our's with Mr. Mitchell to be fixed, and we picked it up on the way back home.

I used to love Easter Morning when the boys were little and the look in their eyes. Then off to Church, home for a big meal and a nice long nap.....

One that sticks out was taking both sons fishing when they were 3 and 6. Both of them hooked into bass in the 3 pound range for the first time in their lives. It was a great day.
