Pick-up truck or Thompson?

DocDoc Member Posts: 13,899 ✭✭✭
edited April 2006 in General Discussion
Was going to go buy a new truck today but got laid up with a bad case of food poisoning. Been trying to get over it for two days and I am just now starting to feel human, again.

Anyway, I put $16,000 into my "special funds" checking account in anticipation of buying the truck and while home sick the last two days I started perusing gun ads. I found a beautiful 1927 Thompson, still in it's original box, with two box magazines and one drum for $13,500.

Hmmm... Truck... Thompson... Truck... Thompson...

This is why my wife doesn't tell me how much money we have or let me keep large sums of cash on hand.

Yeah, but I can't drive the Thompson to work and I doubt if anyone will stop to give me a lift if I am holding it. [;)]

    Buy the THOMPSON!!!!

You can save up for a new truck after that.

I can get you a deal on a Dodge or Chrysler product if you want.

    Thats a "No Brainer"!!
If we are talking about a machinegun.
The Thompson will apprecate, the pickup wont.
    Thats a good price too!
The Thompson should apprecate at least 10-20% per year or more, and damm sure wont go down in price.

    PS-Take the bus its cheaper!!!

On the Form4 for transfer, for the reason to own, put:
"Good looking, busty chicks dig them"
But I would adivise using "For all legal purposes" or "Collector"
Either way it wont matter what you put.
The transfer once you submit all the paperwork, should be around 90 days.

Drive your old beater and buy the Thompson. Then after you get it, visit a truck dealer. Have the Thompson with you. [:o)][:o)][:o)]

Buy the Thompson. For $2500 you can get an S-10 or Ranger in good shape.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Me? If I'm not gonna live more than a week,, month, whatever, I'd choose the Thompson over a new Truck! Can't take neither one with you.

How many people have the chance to buy a Thompson? a truck?

If for no other reason than this one, do it. But there are plenty of reasons.

    Let's try this one...

If you have a Thompson, you can get a truck. It doesn't work the other way around. [;)]

Buy that Thompson, borrow the money to buy a second, and drive a $500 beater for five years. At the end of 5 years, sell the second Thompson, buy a nice late model truck for cash, build an addition on your house, and enjoy the Thompson you still have.

I told my wife what all of you said about how I should buy the Thompson. I'm getting the truck. Maybe in another lifetime when I'm reincarnated as someone with money.

But she is buying my a .22 conversion unit for my AR15 as a BD present.

Dude whats wrong with you, get the Thompson.

That truck will depreciate to nothing in 5 years, but that Thompson will just keep going up and up in value.

Logic, common sense (at least shooters common sense), money, everything leans to the Thompson...

Personally, I'd get more out of a truck.
Using it every day, it is a little oasis in the fight to survive.

Toyota says it is going hydrid on all of it's vehicles, and although I am loath to buy foreign,
if it gives me 5+ extra m.p.g., I'd sure look at the small pickup truck.
