Do you work for a company or are you an owner/operator? Iregardless: Remember back before the govt got a case of stupid and diesel prices were (always) less than gasoline. How much would you estimate the cost of a given trip with a given load increased? And who ultimatly gets the shaft on the prices?
Id wager its whoever is the last down the line buying whatever the goods are.
I post this cause I heard someone talking about prices of food- and I figure if it costs twice as much to transport it here and then there then there... Transport companies aint just gunna eat the profit loss.

Did you make it thru the hail storm? Helotes, Texas got soft ball sized hail. Time Warner trucks got it bad.

Do you or anyone you know of have a use for a 16" (I think it's a Makita) circular saw? A man that said he used to build log cabins sold it to a friend of mine at his pawn shop. I think it's like $169. I thought about you when I saw it. It's freakin' huge.

Awhile back we were discussing wood. You said you had never had the pleasure of splitting any American white elm.

Here is a few pics of "splitting" American elm.

    007-1.jpg

    004-1.jpg

And here is how you split this stuff that I swear is made with steel cable:

As you can see, elm doesn't so much "split" as much as you cut through it with the hydrolic splitter. [;)]

Didn't want to hijack the other post but lay off the love of my life, SISSEL!!! That gal can really sing. She also speaks English.

Google her and Shenandoah. You might also check her and O Sole Mio. She can be pretty funny also. She is one beautiful person. Best, Tom

Do you ever get over into Fla.?
I am right off of I-75 at exit 321 if you ever get over this way and want a home cooked meal. There is a Sprit truck stop at the exit you could park your rig in and I could pick you up. Just a open invite if you ever get over this way.

Allen, a couple of questions: Do you ever travel I-55 N in MS? I only live a few miles from the Tillatoba MS truck stop. Would be happy to share a cup anytime you come thru.

2nd ?: I have an Allen Griggs in my files as tanning deer hides from Sebring tanning in Florida. Could that be you??

I sent a PM but it bounced back as undelivered.

I suppose my PM address is good but if it will not go thru, please email me at: tccox1224@yahoo.com

    Best, Tom

Hardy, David L. Sr. A review of first aid measures for pit viper bite in North America with an appraisal of extractor suction and stun gun electro shock. Published in Biology of the Pit Vipers, Edited by Johnathan A. Campbell and Edmund D. Brodie, Jr., Selva, 1992.

I should have remembered this, as I was at the symposium it is published from. The bibliography of this paper contains an extensive listing of the papers published on electo shock treatments of snake bite up to that time. Little has been done since as far as I know because the medical world considers the issue settled. This volume should be available in a university library if you have access to one. I have neither the time nor inclination to type out the bibliography to post here, but I would be happy to send you a photo copy of the paper and bibliography.

When you were a Paramedic, did you ever do anything that was potentially capable of injuring a kidney?

I have a feeling that if I end up donating one to my friend Jack, it will end my hopes of ever getting into Law Enforcement, and since I'm going to school in the fall to be an EMT anyway, I'm wondering if I'd still be safe in that field post-donation.

hey, I noticed you work as a professional trucker, was wondering if you could shed some light on something I've seen on the road recently.

A good portion of trucks I see on the highway have what can best be described as "side skirts" on the middle of the trailer. Is this to reduce the air resistance somehow?
my only other hypothesis is that they are there to keep stupid kids from trying the "Fast and the Furious" thing where they little sports car goes under the semi trailer...

Thanks a lot Gun Dog. That would be great if you could send a photocopy. Getting to a university library would be difficult for me. You may save me from uselessly shocking the s*** out of myself 'cause I was sure planning to do it. If you read those articles you would have to admit they were convincing. In fact I'm going to try to contact that veternarian in Alabama and see what his take is by now. Would you email me at reltney2001@yahoo.com Thanks, allen
