Mauser accuracy?

Many people tell me that Mausers have the most accurate and smoothest action, and I've read other places that it is not solid enough, and theres too much open space, which reduces accuracy.

The old Sako's have about the slickest action out there.Barring some rather high priced custom actions.
The Mausers can be smithed to work..but you rarely see them anymore in benchrest matches...The Remington is far better for the money spent.
A Savage rifle is possibly the best value today, money wise.
    (The above is personal opinions.....)
