Got a Stevens Buckhorn model 66-B 22 rifle. I am thinking of cutting the 24" barrel down to 20"(even with the end of the magazine tube) and shortening the stock 1 1/2 to 2". This would be so it fits my 11 year old daughter. She out grew her Cricket a year ago, and we were out shooting the Stevens today and it's just to much for her to manage and do good work with.

Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts? Comments?
This thing ain't some kind of rare collector's item is it?
Does Brownells or any of the big strappers sell any kind of cutter for crowning barrels or do I need to chuck it up in a lathe?
Thanks in advance for any input.
