Following an auction for a nice 1942 enfield 303, the buy now was $277 with free shipping. Some schmo over bid the buy now. It is now over $350, plus shipping. Why do people do that?

    Because once a bid is in place, the Buy It Now is no longer an option, and the buyer either saw the auction after a bid was placed, or was hoping to get it at a price lower than the BIN.

    I have bought a couple of things on the auction side for more than the BIN for the first reason.
    Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

    i looked for a rifle for 20 years...a new one showed up....i bid to BUY and still got it at a reasonable price...i bid on another one...only one i had found and got cheap and quit...stupid...now i will probably never see another...but if i do i will BUY it...i got the money
