Depends how much you wont to spend,I went wih Remington Sendero 300 win mag.Burris Black Diamond scope 6x24 Ballistic mill plex.Spent about $200 on a tune up.8.750 group at 1000 yards. This gun has out performed others,That cost five times as much.I beleve the main reason was the tune up and Burris scope.

I believe that 1000 yard shooting is 25% luck, 25% gun and 50% shooter. Just sit back and imagine how far 1000 yards is. I have trouble seeing a groundhog at 500yds with a 16x scope, dont imagine a 24x at 1000 would do me much good. B 4 someone gets mad I'm talking about me personaly, I have a friend that can just about outshoot me at 100yds with an open sight sks. For me I dont forsee any 1000yd shooting for me in the future.

50 Cal BMG.I just loved it when reading a post here the other day about these; to quote..."shooting a round big as a beer can, for over 1800 yds.."That post had something to do with banning these rifles. As I recall they were quoting some alarmist congressman, who couldn't figure out why anyone would want to own something like this..Anyhow, I enjoy shooting 50, 45 cal's at long range, but the older I get, the harder it is to see what I'm shooting at, even thru sites.

Good....300Win Mag, better......338 Win Mag, best...338 Lapua Mag. All are adequate; the .300 Win Mag doesn't beat you up as much, the .338 Lapua has better ballistics. Take your choice. BeachP.S. Most practical and easiest brass to find... .300 Win Mag

Need I say it - try the 30-06, been used for years and years in the Palma match with great results. Brass and bullets readily available, less recoil than the .300 or .338 mags, better all around. Nuff said.
