Check out the price and item on auction #1, then check out the price and item for auction #2. Not that #2's cheap or anything, but it's quite a difference considering the product, eh?

Begging your pardon ma'am, but it's just a freakin' double-barreled shotgun...

I am at a loss as to how these two firearms compare with each other as each has a totally different purpose and generally would appeal to completely different buyers. I suppose you could come up with another one thousand such comparisions on the GB auctions if you persisted.

All depends what you like best, I reckon. I would choose the shotgun I think. Let me emphasize "would" -- I don't expect to ever be able to afford either one.

Edit: Let me elucidate. The purpose of the post was to question why an unquestionably top of the line military grade sniper rifle is a full $6,000 less than a break-action trap shotgun that is more or less a filligreed clone of a half-dozen other trap shotguns?

I'm not necessarily pissing on the Perazzi. I'm just curious.

This is sort of a "Why do teachers make $20,000 a year while porn stars make millions?" question.

Not everyone is into customizing, or even target shooting though. I expect someone who would spend that much on a shotgun would be doing so more for an appreciation of the beauty and quality of it than anything else. The rifle seems all-business to me. Even so, it's a mighty nice rifle!!

Speaking as a former HK dealer and owner of several of their rifles and machineguns (did you catch seeing my photos last week?) I can tell you that they are "just freaking" stamped pieces of metal painted black. While you can purchase a Beretta O/U which will do the same shooting as the Perazzi for half the money (although some Berettas are well over $16K), my HK SR9TC will shoot nearly as well as the PSG-1 for half the cash- it is all about the extras and how deep your pockets are. I shoot with guys who consider my Remington 3200 skeet gun a nice entry level shotgun and my BMW 540i as a good around town car and they have the money to back up their opinions so who cares? When I see you bidding on either of the items you've posted I'll be VERY impressed!

High end shotguns can cost more than that. There has been a high dollar shotgun market much longer than whatevery class you could stick that rifle in. Apples and oranges. Different uses, different users, different sports.

Heck that shotgun doesn't even get into the artwork class of shotguns.
