on the back of road signs are for? I was going north the other day and all the signs had a 5 on the back except at two cross roads and they had a 7. Anyone?

I think in NC they are date codes for when to replace.

Burdz. Can't help it when I'm leaning on one to pee. [:)] Seems there was a big uproar a few years back about them being road signs for an international army. Can't remember how that turned out.

Had you started out further south you would have noticed that the first signs you encountered would have the number 3 on their reverse.
these running codes indicate the caliber that is best used to fire at this group of road signs. In this case, the .357 magnum.
