I know this has nothing to do with guns but I'm excited about this and just gotta share this with ya'all
You car buffs and motor heads may like this. I just spent all day cleaning this block getting it ready to go to the machine shop tomorrow.
This is going to be a 383 stroker, the second one I have built and it will go into my '87 Firebird that currently has a 2.8 v6.
I also Just got off the phone with Summit Racing and made a big order. Check out this list.
383 stroker crank
5.7" recessed bolt H-beam rods for 383 stroker
Keith Black Signature Silvolite pistons
Brodix Trak 1 heads, fully assembled with 2.08/1.60 valves
Vic Jr intake
Check out this cam, custom grind from Comp Cams; 248/254duration@ .50, .576/.582 lift, 108 d lobe seperation, .104 centerline, cut on a 1.050 base circle for 383 apps. This thing is a SUPER RADICAL pro Street cam that will produce No vaccum for power brakes and will idle like a fuelie! it's also a solid roller that will make power from 3500 to 7300rpm's. If anybody would want a cam like this let me know, I have the grind/part number for it and it can be ordered thru Summit, will take about 2 weeks because it is a custom grind.
Holley Dominator 4500 750 cfm carb
I also ordered some other small parts but those are the biggies.
I will still need to save up for my TCI tranny that will have a fully manual valve body and transbrake in it. I found a site that sells prefab Ford 9" housings, will need that since there is no way the factory rear will handle this motor. I will probably get 4.10's with a spool for this, and I am going to need frame rail connectors. Has anybody here ever used a Bolt in Cage for added body strength? If so how well did it work? There is now way that the unibody will take this power either.
According to Comp Cams and Brodix I'm lookin at .......Never mind the power, don't need to get called a liar! You motor heads out there, just take those cam #'s and head/intake setup and figure out what it will do on a 10.5:1 383. This will be my biggest engine project to date. The last 383 I built was 100 percent Edlebrock Performer, heads/cam/intake was all of the Performer series and it worked great! This is my first shot at an all out Pro Street job and I hope I'm not dissapointed in it. BTW this will get driven on the street, time to show these teenagers with their Mustang GT's and hopped up jap cars where the bear sh!ts in the woods.
Man I can't wait to get it done, maxed out my credit card today with this and it will probably take 2-3 months to get it all assembled and balanced. There will still be minor machine work to do to the block for the 400 crank and rods to have clearance and I also will touch up the port job on those heads.

The block is out of a '76 vete I used to own, it is a 4 bolt main block. I gave the original heads away and tossed the crank, rods and pistons in the trash to be replaced with a 400/383 crank and stronger rods with .30 over pistons. I have thought about getting a Pete Jackson drive for it but for a dual idler setup I will need to grind some metal off of the block and drill a few holes. Depending on what I get into with clearances and how much hassle I have with the crank assy I may just do that. How do you think this is going to sound with Hooker Comp headers and single chamber Flowmasters out the sides With 3" pipes??
Kinda fun to just take out and play in the snow also!
