My Daughter is flying to New York this Wed!!!!!

Greetings:
I'm so nervous about this it is almost making me ill. She is going to NY with her college drama/art class. She is 18 and can make these decisions herself but there is too much that can happen!! She will be with a group, however she has never been to a city (without me there) ever!! I am probably overreacting but I am just as worried about the trip on the plane as I am her stay there!! ,,,(worried)sod

aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate
and encourage us to great and noble Actions." --George Washington

I highly doubt there is anything anybody can say that will alleviate your worry until your daughter returns home. But, for what it's worth, I'm sure she'll be fine.

I'm sure you are right. They say it's safer on the plane than in the car on the way to the airport! This will be an experience of a lifetime for her. New York City will amaze her for sure as she is just a country girl.

NYC can be grand or it can be very scary.

She is with a group, so they should be fine.

Everything will go OK. When she gets home, she will have more world knowledge.

I don't have a Nagant. If I recall thats the M44? Russian surplus bolt action that shoots 7.62x54R, they sell for like 60-80 bucks? After I buy my M1A I might buy one of those just for the heck of it.

So what else do you need to know sod?? *winks*

If you take away oppresive liberal government, widespread poverty, high crime rates, high taxes, bad education, NYC is not that bad. Trust me - I lived here for 11 years.

BTW, your daughter will be fine. She should just be aware of the parts of the city she should never go to.

Sodbuster, it is true, you are safer on a plane than in a car, but I don't like flying much either. She will be fine with a group, and likely have the trip of a lifetime. She will never be that age or see it just that way again. Ol' Dads just have to live with these kinds of experiences.

Sodbuster,I know what you mean. My daughter has to do her job internship for college in Charlotte,N.C. this summer. I feel very unconfortable about this. She will be living there all summer and working. I know Charlotte is not New York but where we live I do not see that much difference. My daughter just turned 25 but the worrying never stops.

    SilverBox:
When you get that M1A shoot me some 300 meter groups on paper, mail 'em to me,,then we'll talk. (Iron sights, no sissy scope!)[;)]

    lorus:
She is a very talented artist also. She has dreams of New York or California after college. Maybe this will change her mind[;)].

    HeDog:
This will be her trip of a lifetime!! I'm just hoping that when she gets back she will prefer life out here in the sticks.

    4Wheeler:
You're probably right I will never stop worrying! As my girls were 'growing up' I made durn sure that I was always there when they needed me. I can't do that when she is thousands of miles away!!

I do feel better talking with you all about it though. Thanks All!!,,,sod

    Sod,

Put your faith in the man upstairs and the job you and your wife have done over the last 18 years. She'll be fine, and we'll send up an extra guardian prayer for her![:D]
