Some people SHOULDN'T own guns

I decided this a couple days ago. Here's why:
I have a neighbor a few houses down the street. A good guy, takes care of his kids, likes beer. A few times we wne to visit a cop friend of ours and we shoot the 10/22. He always behaved responsibly and safely, so I never worried about him.
Well, he comes to me the other day asking to borrow a gun because his family is going camping and he wants something in case coyotes get to close. I knew there were no coyotes where he was going, and I don't like the fact that he has 2 children under 5 and little handgun experience. Still, he kept pestering. I gave him my Jennings 22... MINUS the firing fin and extractor, WITH a snap cap jammed in the chamber. No way this gun can fire, even if it was racked.
Boy am I glad I did.
He never used it while they were gone (of course), but when he got home, the family started unloading the car. Wife grabs a load, heads inside. Husband grabs a load, heads inside. Three year old junior here, looks how to help. Rummages around, and pulls out the pistol which dad left unattended in the car. Junior does what little kids do... He plays. He pulls the trigger, screws with the safety, the slide, everything. On top of that the father put in a loaded magazine.
Thank God I disabled it.
My gun is prettier than yours, and it's a Glock!

1) You're right, I wasn't knowledgable when I bought it. It was a first and never again.
2) I knew the guy for years, he's not going to rob a liquor store.
3) Are Jenning's pistols EVER considered operable?
4) Only lend what you don't care if you ever see again.
5) Shooting coyotes is not something I do. Dont know what caliber you need, don't care.
6) You consider that bragging? Bragging about what? Disabling a non-functional weapon?
7) Thank you for your honest criticism
