Question on handgun shipping.

Found a revolver on another site for a very good price (It's a Rossi .357 in NRA Fine condition), and I was just contacted by the individual from whom I've arranged to purchase it. He has sited 11.50 to ship via the United States Postal Service. This seems like a small amount, as I was under the impression that handguns must be shipped via next-day mail. Any help on this would appreciated, as I want neither the seller nor myself to make mistakes in the transfer (I have an FFL set up to receive it already.)

Handguns can be shipped through the US Mail, but they must go from one FFL to another FFL. C&R does not count as the proper FFL for shipping handguns through the mail.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, just remembered reading something about priority mail on here. The gunstore where the fellow had the heart attack (I posted about it a few days ago) is handling the transfer for me, but thanks for laying it all out [:)]

The shipper is probably right about THE 11.50 postage if he figured it out using the weight of the gun but the USPS requires handguns to be shipped registered and insured which comes out to be another $8 or so.I have shipped handguns all over the lower 48 and they are always under $20.00

Kind of makes me wonder where some sellers get their shipping numbers. I see alot that are 25$-35$; of course I've read more than one post complaining about those inflated prices too.

UPS requires overnight delivery. Perhaps the reason for the higher shipping prices. This is their requirement-no doubt because of internal theft.
