Halloween thread: for all things spooky
So the girls have costumed all of the critters...
They have been dressed up and on parade since Friday.
Akira the bouvier de Flanders Akita mix wonder dog is a stegosaurus
Mr peepers the European super ferret is the masked hero Zorro
Mr Quackers the mostly mallard duck has has a yellow rain slicker with matching hat
Sonic the not so miniature hedgehog is a fluffy bunny rabbit
The box turtle with no name has a pair of short swords and a turtle backpack which I am guessing pays homage to Donatello of TMNT fame
The cat whose name I do not speak has snake tail and leg snake stockings
It's a big show - there was a costumed pet parade locally indoor and all were in attendance - the little neighborhood kids loved it
The dog got to trot and the rest rode on a Lil red wagon with big pneumatic tires...
A goat dressed as a pirate got out of hand and knocked one of the judges on his ash...
That's my little Halloween contribution - please leave yours
Favorite costume as a kid...
Worst object given out...
What are the kids and grandkids dressed as...
Homemade costumes???
Mike

He got strep through from Bobbing for apples at a church party that year.
That is one of Mimi?s Favorite pictures of my brother and I.
I miss those days.
My mother hand made all the costumes.
I was a knight in armor with helm and breastplate and shield and sword...
My little sister was raggedy Anne (my little brother refused to be Andy - he was scared of the duo) with elaborate yarn hair and rose cheeks...
My littler brother ended up as an elephant - a giant adult sized grey hoodie had big ears attached and there was a trunk and tail...
We carried pillow cases and much of the take was home made or home baked or was fruit...
Trick or treating started early for kids in suburbia in the 70's - right after school let out - with mom and again when dad got home from work

Bobbing for apples

as a kid fruit was at the bottom of the list just above that crappy candy corn some one would toss in a hand full into your bag or the homemade popcorn ball with all the cat , dog hair and dust balls stuck to it [:0][xx(][:D][:D][:D]

I can see you never had a Candy Apple...always a winner!!!!!!
nowdays I doubt anyone would let their kid take something homemade from anyone........[V]
I think are still popular?
when my wife and I first met 40 or so years ago we went to a lot of them she liked going and was always "startled " / scared
I never figured out why you know whats about to happen and there just people decked out granted some are nicely done
a co-worker farmer gal her family would do a haunted woods that was some what interesting and fun
they butchered there own pigs and cows and spread the skulls sometimes the bones once the skulls were just a little to fresh ( as in stinky from not being cured out )

Out for a spin on his pink girls bike,, Does it get any scarier?
We also had clementines and tangerines for all
We had a dozen one pound Hershey bars (big damn bars) that were awarded to real stand out or special kids
The girls did dress up...
Witches hats and grey wigs and black scrub tops
