Auto Ordanance 1927 Thompson Replicas

Has anybody had any experience with Auto Ordanance's Thompson replicas? I got the real compulsive behavior to go and puchase one of these new for some reason as a Father's Day gift to myself Are they really worth it - or is it more just a historic conversation piece that will sit in my gun safe? I could see where you could go nuts shooting it - and the expense that goes with it.

Also, please, I really don't need the comments like the originals were better, or "in my day" types of responses etc. (I'm not trying to be an "A-Hole" about this - I just want some honest opinions.)

I had one. It worked great at first. Accuracy was awesome - same hole at 25 yards from a bench. Then it started firing full auto. If it was designed to do so, that would have been dandy, but I had to send it in to the factory. They repaired it for free and then I sold it.

My opinion is it is a fun gun, but the price doesn't match the quality/functionality.

Feel free to pm me if you'd like to discuss specifics.

If I were going to buy one, I'd spring for the SBR version. That long standard barrel looks out of place.

A friend of mine had one. My son got to fire it & he had a hard time believing how heavy it was. That was with the stick magazine. With the drum it must have felt like you were carrying a BAR.
It was fun to shoot but I would hate to lug it around.

I wish I never sold the 1927A3 I had. It sure was fun in 22lr [^]
They are scarce and the price is out of sight for one now [xx(]

I was in the same boat, and wanted one badly. That is till I handled a few of them. Just to heavy for me.
