Have any of you ever braved a 45-120 Sharps? 600 Nitro Express? Whats the biggest round you've shot while standing up?
Comments
The smallest would be the new .17HMR.

Got one, 45-120-3 1/4" Its not bad till you start shooting 500gr's out of it. But then, it weighs about 13 pounds.[:D]
I will take it over the .460 weatherby that I shot 3 rounds from. That thing was nasty!
.375H&H
.460WBY
shoulder fired, bench: 50 BMG
mounted: 50 BMG, 25MM Chain Gun, 40MM MK-19
wheeled: 155mm M-187
I really loved being a 45B
.460 Weatherby. Pretty stout recoil on that one.
No joke! after the first shot, "I think I need dental work". Second shot, "Why am I abusing myself?" After the third shot. "I confirmed I will never own one."
I have shot a .50 BMG and it was noting like the .460.
Turned down an offer to dial in a 577 Nitro double once.
that is the truth, I swear I couldn't see in color after shooting for over a hour, I did it on a dare as a 17 yr old kid, at the time I was 6ft 2in and wheighed in at 115lbs, that thing spun me like a top[:D]
The 50bmg in a barrett 82a1a is a ice creamcat in comparison, I even had a guy from barrett tell me I was nuts for shooting the 460[:D]
rifle-.50 beowulf
tripod- Ma 2 50bmg

Fired it 6 times in a row.
Next down the recoil list was a 416Rigby.
Handguns would be a 7mm-08 from a 15" Encore
Due to the violent recoil, it was recommend to be fired with the butt on the ground with the stock turned sideways to prevent broken stocks. Picture a bunch of old salts having fun famming prives in the battalion in other positions! [:D][:D][:D]

.58 cal 1962 Colt Musket
The biggest thing I have shot while standing up... a C4 Trident I SLBM. 34' long, 74" in diameter, 72,000 lbs, with a range in excess of 4500 nautical miles, and about 1/1000 moa accuracy[}:)][^]
40mm Mk-19 grenade launcher (tripod mounted) sitting
You guys are a bunch of wimps![:X][:D]

Bert, you had to have a big Bo'sun standing behind you for support!
Missed.

It depends from the shoulder 460 Weatherby or maybe 40mm grenade. From a bipod a Bolt action 20mm made by an buddy's buddy who builds them for the military. From a vehicle a Ma Deuce
Shotgun : 10 gauge
Rifle : .55Boyes AntiArmour (still processing the rifle through customs/LE) - It's going to be a good musk-ox rifle.
I also love the .50-120
BP rifle (muzzleloader) : .75cal Brown Bess.
If I count military equipment - I've touched off several rounds (Illumination, Smoke and HE-rounds) from the SAAB Bofors Carl Gustaf - 84mm recoilless rifle.
Bert? was that out of a modified 1885?[:D]
Nope... it was out of a Trident submarine (which isn't exactly a single shot[:0]).

No such thing as a Bo'sun mate on a FBM submarine[;)]. That is what we have Missile Tech's for[:D].
