Shiner Bock...it costs about twice as much as Budweiser, but my only other extravagance in life is firearms. I wouldn't buy a Jennings just because it cost less than the Glock I really liked, so I apply the same principle to my beer. Justification is a good thing sometimes.

Only two kinds, room temp and cold.
    Room temp, more favor.
    Cold more American.

Sam Adams, or on occasion when I can find it, Harpoon IPA (awesome stuff)

I brew a outstanding Porter, but havent set up in a while, no nice cool dark place. Thats the 2nd priority for the new house.

If it says lite or light it aint beer, and if it needs fruit, its a cocktail, :)

Ms Beast, yes I have had sprecher, and enjoyed it. They also make an excelent root-beer, and produce a root-beer surrup for kegging your own, and I found that if you cook it first, then add brewers yeast, you can produce an alchol yeilding variety of root-beer...the original form...

Have you ever tried any of K-town's own "Brewmaster's Pub" brews? they make a very good Oatmeal Stout, and are very successful with Kenosha Gold. I often go to the brew house for refills out of the tap into their 64 oz "growler". I usually choose the stout...

Hey...say hi to the beast-man for me...I havn't heard much from him since his anouncment of the new job....

Varmentmist...you reminded me...I must flaunt a little here...We just bought our house a year ago last Christmas, and the previous owners were from a well established Italian family from our comunity. They were wine makers from way back...and our bacement was designed around their hobby... one room contains a tile lined cement vat aprox. 3' deep x 5' long x 3' wide, with a brass spigot in the center of the front wall, down at the bottom. This room has heavy duty, low wooden benches along the two longest walls to support many glass carboy fermenters. The adjacent room has a small closet like room with a shower. I'm pretty sure they would get naked and mash the grapes in the vat with their bare feet, then shower in the small room, before moving into the third room, which was set up with a large gas line with a valve to hook up thier large burner for cooking the mash, or what ever you call it in whine making. the cooking room also has a large three wall sink near the burner area.

I intend to set up my burner on my newly aquired stainless steel table right next to the sink, so I can cook mash, and cool it quickly all right there. I left the fermenting benches where they stood, so I won't have much preparing to do....

Travelor, that sounds like a kick * reloading room to me , especially with that stainless steel table.

Simonbs, I guess you could call it reloading, as I use the brown bottles over and over and over...

I have not done any other reloading as yet...but just aquired my first progressive press. I am waiting now for a buddy to help me set up and give me some pointers....Does a stainless steel table have advantages for reloading?

SS table - only as a sturdy work station (and cool .

I never thought about that kind of reloading . Is there a certain type of press or something you use to seat and seal the caps?

Yep, ready for this? a b-o-t-t-l-e c-a-p-p-e-r You need to buy caps every time, unless you go for the fancy wire with a plastic plug type.

And if you ever had a IPA, you can tell the difference. Very bitter, very good.

Although, after 24-25 curs lites I cant even tell if Ive had a beer

Simonbs, My bottle capper is an antique "prohibition" model. has a strieght shaft, with cog teeth, and is driven by a gear with a lever attached, much like a loading press. Works great...

For my special reserve, I use the (ceramic) stopper type with rubber seals, and wire keepers...(like the Grolsh bottles)

    Hey Fellow Beer Drinkers,

If you like German Beer you know they've had Beer Purity Laws for a long time. Started in Bavaria, I think. The Reinheitsgebot (sp) allows the use of only pure ingredients, not all the additives used in the States. You won't find US beers in Germany except:

Sam Adams!!! I like their IPA (India Pale Ale) all year round and especially their Double Bock in the Pre-Lenten period of spring. I stock pile it while in season and ration it to myself as long as it holds out. So rich, it's like a dessert, so strong, two will do.

    Prosit! Herb Fredricksen herbfred@cpcug.org

I must admit, I've not had the pleasure of sampling many different kinds of beer .

Travelor, the fact that it's almost an antique makes it that much cooler .

To all that make their own - do any of you guys sell your brew?

Better watch out who you sell it to...as the "Law" says you are alowed to produce 200 gallons per year for each adult member of your household, for personal consumption. Once you start selling, you must have proper licencing by the.....(You got it)....BATF.....Tax collectors+
