I was raised on a small country airport.Dad was good friends with a somewhat famous flyer named Marion Cole,,his family was one of the pioneers of the flying circus,,,anyway,,Dad used to drive a station wagon down the runway and Mr. Cole would land and take back off a Piper J3 cub from a roof rack, We used to do airshows all over the South,.. When I was 16 Dad was killed in that same plane..

Some guys take off from what looks like a giant furniture dolly. When they lift off, the dolly heads for the weeds and goes * over teakettle.

Pretty sure the FAA requires the lights when vehs are on a runway. At least they do at the airport I fly out of.
