They should drop him 50 miles from any troops or check points.

xp-Geraldo is doing an excellent job in my book. I disagree with some of his politics but I still admire the guy. He seems to always be in the thick of things. Besides, if they did drop him 50 miles from our troops and checkpoints he would probably show up at one of our base camps with a bunch of Iraqi pow's and another great story to add to his portfolio.

    4G&C,

The guy is the biggest flaming antigunner out there, yet when he was in Afghanistan he bragged about carrying a pistol & wearing body armor. I have no respect for that 2 faced SOB at all.

Geraldo was removed from embedding for giving away his troops location. The moron drew a map in the sand of where they were and broadcasted it.

Fox News is blasting Peter Arnett, as well they should, but not a word about their star reporter who was escorted out of Iraq by the 101 Airborne for giving away their position.

"Fair and balanced" my foot! Rivera is, and aways was a phoney and a jerk. Read the story about Fox News being sued by some of their own reporters for being told to lie about a news story in Florida.

Fox is no better than all the rest of the news media.

When I arrived at my in-laws to drop off my son, Dad-In-Law told me all about it. Both of us are military so we just sat there, shaking our heads in disgust[:(][V].

Chalk up another one for the safe-cracker![:p]

Geraldo is denying that he was booted from the 101st.So is FOX news, they are saying it was a slanderous rumor started by NBC to deflect attention from Arnott.

FOX has my support. The others can hang it up. I finally found a new caster I can listen to without the urge to shoot the television screen.

NBC-(No Buisness Commentating) fabricated the story to draw attention from Arnet. I saw Geraldos report and it was no different than what the War Analists are doing on their fancy overhead projectors in the studios. I have never heard him talk about gun issues and never really watched him until he hooked up with fox. I liked the bit he did on the border problems and his coverage of Afghanistan and Iraq seem to be more pro military than most and being ex military I appreciate that.

Frankly, I prefer the quality of Ollie North's reporting regardless of his affiliation, but Geraldo has my respect for getting into the thick of things. He has said in the past that he would rather be sensational than a straight newsman, and certainly some of his risks haven't panned out (like the safe-opening thing), but at the moment he's doing good work. Supposely, Arnett himself was the source of the false report that Geraldo had been booted.

Frankly, I think all the embeddeds are risking giving away clues. I recall last week watching our tanks racing across the desert on the videophone and the commentator saying that the orange patch on the back was designed to "identify friendlies." Oh, great....

I saw two reports that shocked me.

One was a guy, CNN I believe, phoning in from the north with the Kurds. This guy went on to tell the world that the Kurdish troops & the Special Ops personel had no MOPP suits or Promasks. Basically no way to deal with a Chem/Bio attack if one occured. That's just flippin great.

The other was some chick wearing a bright red sweater who was visiting a small group like the kurds that lived just miles from the "Iraqi front line." The people were awaiting the arrival of US forces but were worried that they might be wiped out before they arrived. She then went on to give their exact location. Hmm, wonder how long they will last.

This weekend I took a break and left the TV off. I thought this embedded journalist idea was good at the beginning. Now, I don't think they will ever do this one again.

I find Rivera a glory hunting, egomaniac. This morning he was on and kept asking the troops around him "Are you glad I'm here?" "Do you like me being here?"
What a schlemeel! What a schmuck!

When Geraldo was in Afghanistan, I saw him do something really stupid. He was reporting from the top of a hill where there was a guy taking potshots at them from some distance away. The friendly Afghans that were on that hill were hunkered down. Geraldo, in his infinite wisdom, would stand up just to get the guy to shoot. He was also wearing solid black which stuck out like a sore thumb. Everytime he would stand up and the guy would take a shot, he would say something like "We're under attack from a sniper across the hill...Oh! He's shooting at us again!" I'll bet the friendly Afghans there wanted to shoot him.

Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

One wonders, will this time spent eating dust and sand, living with guns and gun people, change Geraldo's views on gun control?
