SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police say a 16-year-old boy throwing rocks at a sport utility vehicle was struck by a crossbow arrow fired by a passenger.
Police say the shirtless boy and a friend were throwing rocks at a black Toyota RAV4 in the Linda Vista neighborhood Monday afternoon when a passenger fired a crossbow out the window.
The boy was shot in the right side and was taken to a hospital. The San Diego Union-Tribune says his injuries are not life-threatening.
His name wasn't released.
Nobody has been arrested.

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Obviously someone went medieval on his *.
that got a chuckle...
outgunned him.
Bet he won't do that again...

You would think at least,......remember that it IS California though.
Sixteen years old? There's more to this story. I suspect he got what he deserved -- but wasn't expecting.

Sounds like a drug deal gone bad.
And he would have been right.
same here AND i would have got a beating when i got home.
Plusses outweigh minuses, here.
The dummies at ATF will surely have to start regulating crossbows!
With particular attention to the Evil black ones.
Well, I don't think rock throwing is justification for deadly force, but I'll bet he thinks twice before he does it again.
You need to google rock and car, it will change your thoughts.

I was talking with Goliath the other day, and he said rocks HURT...
But....if for some crazy reason there were any event where anyone shot my child with a crossbow there would be HELL to pay. I don't care what the story is or who was at fault....anyone does ANYTHING that could kill my child and I will come unglued. Guaranteed.
16 and throwing rocks at cars? He is lucky to be alive.
Actually, very lucky.
I don't know....I can't imagine ANY of my kids throwing rocks at a car...EVER.

And that's why you're their mother and not their father.

Wasn't that long ago a passenger of a car was killed locally when a kid dropped a brick from an interstate overpass onto a moving car.
Rock have been deadly weapons since way before even crossbows were invented.
At 16, if I had called my dad from an emergency room, telling him that I just was shot by a crossbow while I was throwing rocks at a car, he would have told me, "You had it coming."
And he would have been right.
Even at the tender age of 16, I had enough sense to NOT call my Dad from wherever it was that I had gotten what I deserved. Fix it up on my own and get back home and try not to bleed on the carpet.[;)]

can they tell what kind of crossbow the bolt came from?
This photo of mattie and don is one of my faves. They were so young then.
