    at one time just another old rife nothing special so owners do what they want , how many firearms or low production cars were chopped up owner modified for the same reason , there just old and cheep for some time before collector value kicks in

    I always explain stuff like this to my customers as back before about 1950 people gave their guns the same treatment as they did your average screwdriver. It was a tool, nothing more for most people.
