Running out of TV Shows to watch.

edited December 2013 in General Discussion
For a while now with TV shows I liked started to drop off like flies and no real replacements to pick up the slots. I think I'll need to get the old shows on DVDs. I should fill the missing seasons of "X-Files", "J.A.G." and "Dirty Jobs".

Or shows I liked but never got around getting like that one show the "Burn Notice" guy was in with that "Bates Motel" chick was in which was a knock off of a British Show. I know I'll have to IMDB that one for the name.

So since I'm looking for more TV Shows what's good?

Work on your post count yoshi... TV sucks for the most part.

That's what I did for almost a year when I was job hunting.
OR... Take up a hobby that gets you out of the house more often.
    OR... BOTH.

    Anything is better than TELEVISION...

Netflix or HULU. Cost almost nothing and offer a wide variety of shows.

How much does something like Netflix, HULU, Amazon Prime cost ?

Y'all got my interest perked... The new stuff jus'doesn't appeal to me.
SO... I don't watch and get aggravated enough to through the damn TV into the yard when I do...
"Channel Surfing" as it's called, is worse than watching paint dry...
And getting this remote control to work with poor eyesight is even worse.

As an aside... And NOT to hyjack the thread... BUT...

WHY do the guys who design remotes...
Print the 'important' labels that describe WHAT the damn buttons do...
With ink that blends in with the damn background !???
I have to use a bright floor lamp just to read the button labels... [:(!]

Can somebody... "Riddle me that... BATMAN ???"

Of ALL the junk on TV currently...

I do watch a couple of shows... When it's convenient for me to do so...

    "The Walking Dead" ...
    12345
Seems plausible enough to me to actually be possible in a post apocalyptic world.
    "How Thing's are Made" ...
    12345
When it's not a third or fourth rerun...
    "The History Channel" ...
    12345
I've been a poor student of history as long as I can remember...
    "N.C.I.S." With Mark Harmon...
    12345
I get a kick out of him slapping someone on the back of the head... [^]
    12345
    ... Otherwise...
    "Military Channel" ...
    12345
    Enough Said...

    And finally...

    "Ancient Aliens" ...
    12345
That one dude looks like 'Larry Fine' of the three stooges... With a sunburn or sprayon 'suntan'.
    12345
Cracks me up when I see him !!!

I pay $8 a month for streaming Netflix. Tons of current and old tv shows plus movies. They do not have as many movies available as their dvd through the mail but you can add that option and always have movies. The streaming service can be viewed through a cell phone, computer, kindle/ipad, xbox or other gaming system or get yourself a Roku. The Roku device runs off your wireless router and there are tons of free shows in their various channels. You can also watch your Netflix or Amazon shows through it. Lots of free gun/hunting show channels and Crackle which has lots of free movies & shows. I'm currently rewatching Magnum P.I. & Jerhico on Netflix...last night saw the newest Bond movie Skyfall on it. If you do get Netflix just make sure you go to their actual website once in a while..sometimes you can find more movies there than they show as available when searching on say your phone..just add them to your que and watch them anywhere.

If you're not too picky there are endless movies and shows on YouTube that are 720P (or better) resolution so they're watchable on your 50".

Also, plenty of apps out there that will download them onto a hard drive or thumb drive. I download shows onto a thumb drive all the time and just plug it into the front of one of my BluRay players. Pick USB from the menu and away you go. Free. Or at least no additional cost to whatever you're paying for your internet pipe.

My TV watching has been dominated by the car shows such as Fast & Loud, Counting Cars, Chasing Classic Cars and any other car shows I can find. Then it's the cop shows like First 48, then it's hunting shows. I guess I have been taken hook line and sinker by these reality shows. I find it hard to watch regular TV shows anymore because of this. Now I am sitting here waiting and waiting for Vikings to return!

    Oh MAN !!! I forgot about those !!! [:p]

They just don't make comedies like they used to... [:D]

Well... Gunsmoke wasn't a comedy... Unless ol'Festus and Doc got into it....
And the WWW was one of my favorite western themed shows.
I'll have to add "Have Gun ... Will Travel" as well....

Then there's Bonanza, The Big Valley, and The High Chaparral...

60's TV... THAT was a good time to be watching the tube...

Netflix streaming is like 8.99 a month. notable tv series it has:

    Sons of Anarchy
    Breaking Bad
    Walking Dead
    Jericho
    Hell on Wheels

All good shows that you can burn through a couple episodes a night really easy commercial free.

Amazon Prime is only worth it if you buy a lot of stuff online through them as it is 79.99 a year I think, free shipping and slightly better deals are offered with it and includes free movies and tv shows, kind of a competitor to Netflix as they seem to have a lot of the same stuff.

I actually have both and I would give the nod to Netflix.

Working on my post count? I'm only on here because I need to give out the Jap point of view to the white masses.

I'd reload but I don't have the space (yet).

No Netflix and/or Amazon Prime because I'm on DIAL UP still [:D].

Yeah I really can't do "N.C.I.S." because I can't see Mark Harmon as anything but a slacker teacher from "Summer School" or as the beer jocky.

"Elementary" if it wasn't for Lucy Loo.
"Blue Bloods" I tried to like it but couldn't.
"Sons of Anarchy" like the Shield after first season I lost interest.
