Laser you use with night vision??

What is the name of the laser you use with night vision. I use to use one when I was 11b in the Army but damn if it did not slip my mind.

I dont even know if it is legal for civilians to have/use.

Don't know about the ones you used, but I use some industrial lasers that have to be looked at with night vision to aim them. Different wavelength that the human eye doesn't see, but they say it will burn your eyes if you look at them. Have been told by the vendors that if they were any stronger lasers they would need to be registered, but they never say with who.

Generally they are called infrared(IR) lasers or infrared laser designators.. As to which exact model you used in service I have no clue..


On the civilian market good ones are extremely expensive.. Probably a grand over what the governemnt pays for them.[xx(]

aimpoint made your ir aiming device if you were at benning. surefire makes a really nice flashlight that is basically a freaking IR torch.
