Good thing I am no longer an NFL watcher!

With your bad case of Ophidiophobia, you may not want to watch that episode.

Where ya at, Rack?! [:)]
Hadn't saw it and didn't want to hit a Spoiler.
Very solid opening episode....one of the things I love most about it is the scale of it all. The brothers are taking over Northern England, Lagatha is preparing for invasion in Norway, Bjorn is on his way to Africa, and Floki has presumably discovered Iceland.
Its ambitious as hell.

Isn't that the truth! And it really goes far in helping us better understand Viking history that has always been somewhat obscure, mysterious, and exciting.

And even so far the show has only scratched the surface of the history.
Depending on how deep they take the story, we could have Bjorn raiding Italy (although it appears from the trailers they want to turn him into Lawrence of Arabia) and raiders fighting their way though the Russian Steppes to find the Byzantine Empire and join the Varangian Guard.
Personally, I think a fitting end would be the period of the Norman Conquest. A great Viking invasion led by King Harold of Norway is narrowly defeated by the Saxon King Harold, who had only recently taken the crown from the House of Wessex.
Harold is, in turn, defeated and overthrown by William of Normandy....direct decendent of Rollo.
It really is incredible when you think about it.
