Now this is weird

We hunt about three miles from a road, back in the pine barons. To get to my buddy Mike's stand, you walk about 300 yard in from a dirt road, then the land turns into a swamp. The water is about two feet deep and you need waders to get to an island, where his stand is located. He went out there last night, to pull his cameras. There was a picture, of a man with a stump for a right hand, standing in front of his camera, at 6:30 at night.[:0] We have no idea why he was back there so deep, or why anyone would want to walk through that swamp for no reason. Picture was taken on a Sunday night. Either way, we are both freaked out, and will NOT be hunting back there again. I have never seen signs of human life back there, ever, besides us. The gun clubs don't even come back there. I cannot get Image, to upload the photo. I will try to send it to someone if you want. Picture came out blurry on my phone, but better on the computer. Oak

It's the Pine Barons; we've spotted several people from Deliverance in there before when doing work for Maguire and Lakehurst.

Public ground attracts the public. I wouldn't worry about it. Guy could have been running * hounds. He has as much right to be there as anyone else.

We had a pic of a guy at 2 am by one of our cameras.

No idea where he came from or why he was there.

I worry about remote public lands. Too may folks growing weed or cooking meth nowadays. Years back it was moonshiners.

Wait a minute, the notorious New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Look, I am from Georgia but even I know about the Pine Barrens.

I saw on the Sopranos where Christopher and Paulie took a Russian mobster out there to bury him, winter time snow cold as hell.

Like usual, had his body in the trunk, just another day at work.
But when they opened the trunk, the damn guy wasn't dead!

Like I was saying weird **** happens in the Pine Barrens. Damn Russkie jumped up, I mean this was a giant guy about 6 foot 6, he jumped up and started running, of course Christopher and Paulie began firing to gun him down, somehow the damn Commie ran off. Never learned if he lived or died or what.

Any way, the two Gangsters somehow got lost there and had to huddle up for the night in the Pine Barrens in a junked car and eat little ketchup packets from McDonalds, these guys are not exactly Jeremiah Johnson they very nearly died that night.

So, what I am saying is weird stuff happens in the Pine Barrens you might have gotten photos of a dead Russian gangster.

That episode was filmed in Harriman State Park, NY.

I know because my Buddies and I were all meeting up there, and individually hiking in to one of our favorite spots. We were all individually stopped by the film crew Security, and told we could not enter. We just laughed at them, said this is a State Park, you have no authority to keep us out. (We are all Prior Service Veterans. We were not going to be cowed, and were not.)

We each relayed the same type of story, once we met up several miles in at our destination. Snowshoed in by headlamp, as usual. We all laughed our * off when we saw that episode.

So let me get this straight, you guys are afraid of a bird watcher?

Come on guys, 300 yards is hardly 'remote'.

Well it might be in New Jersy, about half way across the state and all.

Oakie, your tale almost reminds me of an old around the campfire ghost story we used to tell our kids. ( I learned the story when I was a kid)

About the one armed hermit that had been living out in these here woods since 1920. Lost his arm in the Great War and had a fake one made out of solid gold to take its place. Some kids snuck into his cabin and stole his golden arm, along with turning on the gas valve to his space heater. Even though the old guy died, his ghost is said to be still roaming these here woods looking for his golden arm and to get vengeance upon any children he should run across.[:0][:I][B)]

Dollars to winchells he got out there and couldn't believe folks had put up a tree stand way out there. People explore public places. I wouldn't worry even two seconds about it.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Couldn't be Amos Moses because his left arm's gone clean up to the elbow.

We had a trail camera on our farm in a very wet and marshy kind of slough about a mile from the nearest road and we had a picture of a guy on a bicycle with shorts and a short sleeve shirt on in November!
    People are strange.......
