Domestic Abuse On Someone I Know

My first wife had a good friend named Rose. Rose drank a little too much and was married to one of the meanest men in our town.

One Saturday she showed up about lunchtime and she had 2 of the blackest eyes i have ever seen and her nose was all busted up.

I took her to the hospital and waited for the cops to get there and i told the cops she just came over like that.

She would not admit her husband did it to the cops but to me she did. It was the middle of winter and she did not have a coat or shoes. Her husband would not let her have any.

I went to her house and told her to go get some clothes. While she was inside her husband came outside drunk and showing his but and i beat the crap out of him and left him laying in the yard.

About 5 pm the cops come to my house knocking on my door. Rose was at the police station getting a warrant for my arrest for beating up her husband. Cops told me thanks for doing something that they could not do and that they were not going to do anything on the warrent because she was drunk.

You are a good man, Dave.

I am sure you know the warrant was attempted out of fear and not malice. Having a good person in her corner and knowing that person will not let her down is about her only hope out of this.

Oft times, discretion is the better part of valor. If she's afraid of her husband, she may file again when she sobers up and the cops won't have any choice but to enforce the warrant. The husband could also file an assault charge.

He deserved to get his butt whupped but I hope you don't end up paying for it.

    was wondering the same.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Paul. You are completely correct. During my younger days (1930's and 40') any husband that did not support his family received special attention. We had no law enforcement in the countryside, so the communities took care of their own.

We will see those times again. Just wait. It's coming.

sounds like they both are equally as guilty, i adhere to "if i have to hit a woman i dont need her", but over the years i have know several that not only ask for it but beg for it, even attacking first

Dave ;glad it was long ago. I was thinking if it was recent you should be prepared to get visited by the local gendarmes following up.
