I drew a black bear tag for this fall

I'm not thrilled, but not disappointed either, if that makes any sense. I thought I applied for a point, but apparently I applied for a kill permit. This was only my 2nd application since my last tag. We have a huge trip planned for this summer, but I am going to have to hunker down and make this work financially! [:D]

The bait itself isn't too expensive, but the gas money to drive back and fourth baiting every day adds up. Plus I have no vacation available to use for it, so I'm going to have to get it done on the weekends!

    What state?

    Wisconsin.

I'm going to give the DNR a call and see if I can change it to a point.

If I may ask, what is a point as opposed to a kill?

If it's any consolation, the bear got a permit, too. [:D]

It's a preference point. The tag draws are weighted draws, the more points you have the better the odds of getting a tag. You get a preference point if you apply buy aren't drawn for a kill tag. Some states let you buy preference points (usually one a year) without applying for a kill tag. I bought non resident points in South Dakota last season for antelope and deer.

That is not a bad idea. Get a tag and then run a crowd fund me promotion to save a black bear. If you raise more than 10 grand promise to stay out of the woods. I'd bet there are enough crazed PETA libs out there to scrape up 10 grand! Talk about a side job!
