I've asked before and have never been given a straight answer. Why do the cops give loud motorcycles a pass? Are they exempt from noise laws? I've seen a hotrod and a motorcycle go by, with both around the same decible level, guess which one gets a ticket. It ain't the cycle. Dave

    It's called officer discretion.

Some officers just don't use it wisely.

Vehicle laws vary from state to state, so you'd have to look up the approbate code in your state. But the thing is noise levels vary according to vehicle type.

I haven't had a ticket for loud exhaust.....yet. I don't even think about starting or driving my wreck late at nite or early in the morning. I've seen and heard plenty of bikes coming through town in the wee hours or on the way to work in the morning that rattle the windows 3 blocks away. Dave
