UPDATE...new addition to the family

Need a new type of firearm that's Indiana-legal for deer, so Friday I'll be purchasing a Taurus Circuit Judge. I wanted a Marlin 38/357, but the particular one I want is on back-order for 6 months from the manufacturer. So, since the season starts in less than 2 weeks, I guess I'll have to "settle" for the Judge. My wife already own the pistol version, and I've wanted this rifle ever since it was introduced, just for poops and giggles. Looks so ugly it's beautiful!

Pictures coming soon![8D]

Circuit Judge is so funny looking that it's COOL. Strange looking, never seen anything like it and must confess, I like them for their uniqueness.

isn't there an inherent problem with that design? vis. the very hot gasses that escape between the cylinder and the bbl?
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

There's a shroud around the end of the cylinder to protect the forearm from the escaping gasses.

It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

Please welcome our newest family member, Judy. She's a 1-year-old Rossi Circuit Judge, and we'll be killing Indiana deer together very, very soon...

    Interesting looking rig.

I'd be interested in hearing your range and hunting report soon.

Best of luck to you also; take care.

They are unique and I would own one if there wasn't so many other rifles out there I wanted. On my top 100 list that one is around 99.

Good luck with yours. How about a range report when you get a chance.

    OK, range report....

The Circuit Judge fired nicely and was accurate. Very low felt recoil (IMO). As expected, the trigger pull in double action is outright ridiculous and requires several full-sized pick-ups in tow mode to get it pulled back. However, single action is nice and easy and will always be my preferred method of firing.

My suggestion to the company would be the addition of half-cock for safety reasons. I don't know if that's feasible with a revolver, but as I marched into the woods and climbed my tree stand, I removed one round and closed the cylinder on the empty chamber, just in case of an accidental drop. A half-cock position for the hammer would be preferred.

My only complaint is that the stock blocks the removal of casings or cartridges. If you swing open the cylinder and push in the ejector rod, one or two of the shells will not come out because they hit the stock. I'm planning on refinishing the stock any (has a nasty orange tint to it now), so I may try and sand down that particular area to remedy the ejector situation.

Overall I'm please with it. It's lightweight and fits well in my hands and shoulder. Unfortunately I haven't seen any deer yet ([:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]), but I'm hoping to kill one with Judy (yes, I named her Judge Judy) soon.

And another thing....no, wait, I'm going to make another thread for this extra tidbit.
